I might go to a Phillies game

I haven’t decided yet. I have to see how much money I have in my next check. It’s going to be short because I was sick. I have to take money out of my “fun money” account to make up for that money. Once I see how much money I have left, I’ll decide whether or not I want to go.

The game is at the end of the money in Philly. I would have to pay for a plane ticket as well as the game ticket. I’ll probably call my mom and go home so I don’t need to pay for a hotel.

I really would like to see a game in person this season.

Dave Littlefield is out finally!

After years of making bad draft picks and not signing free agents, Dave Littlefield has finally been relieved of his duties as the GM of the Pirates.

I swear, if I was half as bad at my job as that man was at his, I would have been “relieved of my duties” a long time ago.

I just hope they make a good choice with the next guy.

Today was a good sports day!

First of all the Steelers won! Did you really have any doubt? They beat the Brownies 34-7. Mike Tomlin wins his first NFL game.

Did you know that the last three Steelers coaches Chuck Noll (1969), Bill Cowher (1992) and Mike Tomlin (2007) all won their coaching debuts?

The Phillies and Yankees also won today. The Phillies beat the Marlins 8-5 and the Yankees beat the Royals 6-3. And as if that wasn’t enough, I got to watch the Phillies play the Marlins yesterday. They also won that game. The Phillies need to keep winning, they were dropping back in the wild card race.

All in all it was a good day for sports. I love days like this.

Spammers sure are consistent

I’ve been talking about all of the spam comments that I’ve been getting on one of my blogs. I figured the number would tail off or slow down a little but it hasn’t.

Just yesterday I had 75 comments, and one day last week I had over 100 comments. All of them spam, 97% leading to p0rn sites. I can tell it’s the same person, but they use different websites and different ip addresses.

What losers!

People have unrealistic expectations

Blogging expectations that is. I was reading a community blog where everyone has a semi-permanent posting schedule. One of the people was sick and missed their scheduled start so some of the readers of the blog were in a uproar.

Calm down people, everybody gets sick.

I haven’t watched any sports

Man this sucks! I haven’t been able to watch any sports in forever. There are no baseball games on. And I don’t want to see the ones that they have been showing. Football started tonight but I’m not interested in the two teams playing so I won’t watch that either.

Hopefully I can find a good baseball game on Saturday. Of course Sunday is Steelers football!

I haven’t done anything productive in a week

I’ve been a slug for the past week. I was sick 3 days last week so I didn’t do much. Then this weekend I was a couch potato. I was supposed to work on my short story but I didn’t have any inspiration. I was totally tapped out.

Hopefully the rest of this week will be better.

Excess spam on my other blog

On one of my other blogs I’ve started getting a ton of spam comments. At first it was only 4 or 5 per day. Now I’m getting over 50. If I mark them as spam, I would ban the ip addresses.

The bad part of banning a ip address is that all domains hosted on that ip address are now banned. In addition to that, all of the spam comments are coming from 3 or 4 different ip addresses.

Some people have too much time on their hands.

Celebrities at the U.S. Open

They showed Roger Goddell -the NFL commissioner- in the crowd. Maybe he’s looking for a reason to suspend Venus Williams for the season.

Serena Williams is also there supporting her big sister.

Who am I supposed to be rooting for again?

This is the time of year where I go crazy with baseball. There are about 4 weeks left in the regular season and the wild-card races are heating up.

The Yankees lead the Mariners by 1 game with the Tigers right on their heels in the wild-card race. They only trail Boston by 5 in the east because of their sweep last week.

The Phillies are 2 behind in both the East and the wild-card. But the Dodgers and Braves are right on their heels.

So not only do I have to cheer for my team to win, I have to cheer for a bazillion other teams to lose.
