I wasted both of our time

I went to take my makeup exam on Thursday of last week. I tried to study even though I was sick. It didn’t make any difference though. By the time I got to my professors office, I had forgotten everything. All of the questions were graphically related and even though I had just looked at one, I couldn’t remember it to save my life.

I feel bad though because not only did I waste my time, but I wasted my professors time. He didn’t even have to let me take the makeup but he did and I still screwed up. I don’t want to think about how much money I just wasted.

I’m loving these playoff games

They’re awesome! I didn’t want the Patriots to win but I figured they would. I love the fact that the Packers and Chargers won their games. I hope the Giants beat the Cowboys then everything will be perfect for next week.

I’ve been chillin’ all weekend watching football and eating good food. The only thing that would make it better would be if I had some home theater furniture like a big comfy couch or something. But I’m not complaining heck I would sit on the floor to watch the games.

The only things that sucks about this time of year is that it means the NFL season is almost over. It also means that it’s the middle of winter. Blech. When do pitchers and catchers report? I hope it’s soon. C’mon spring!

I’m not changing the focus of my blog

I’ve been reading a lot of other blogs trying to figure out why they have the readership that they do. Some of them aren’t written very well and others just seem to regurgitate information that they’ve read elsewhere. Yet they have a steady readership that seems to keep climbing. One thing I noticed is that a lot of them write about making money online. I know this is a growing thing but I think some of these blogs will eventually start to fade once people figure out how to make money themselves.

This blog is my random ramblings so I want it to be my voice and my own words. Not something that I think will draw readers in. I mean if people read my blog that’s great. But the world won’t end if they don’t. Kwim? I see so many blogs that start off really good and once they figure they can make money, their blogs turn sploggy. I would rather be the only one reading my blog than have a crappy blog.

I may as well accept the grade I have

I’m taking my make up test today. Did I mention that I’m as sick as a dog. I have some kind of funky flu that turned into a head cold. I’ve been sneezing and coughing all day long and I feel awful. I would normally call the professor to ask to reschedule but since this is already a makeup test, I didn’t think he would push it back again. He might think I’m just pretending to give myself more time.

This really sucks!

Shopping till we drop

My boyfriend and I have been doing some serious power shopping the last few weeks. He moved into a new apartment and we’ve been buying stuff for his place. We’ve also done our fair share of food shopping especially juices drinks. We seem to be going through a gallon of juice or iced tea every two days.

While we’ve been getting stuff for him, I’ve also been looking at stuff for me. I saw a computer desk that I really liked, and a treadmill that I love but I’m waiting for it to go on sale. I also got dvds and I’m looking at a cd or two. What really grabbed my attention though where the new tvs.

Everything is flat screen now, even small 19 or 20 inch tvs. I just kept looking at some of the larger tvs that were on sale. I’m glad that I have a low limit on my credit card because all I could do was look. But if they ever up that limit, it’s on!

Doing business online

I conduct all of my business online. It’s just a matter of convenience really. And the best part is that I can do everything from home and work.

Yup don’t tell my boss but I do everything from work. Everything from banking to paying bills, even getting life insurance quotes. During an average week I spend more waking hours at my job than anywhere else so it just makes sense that I conduct business from work. For example the handle on my tub is loose so later on today or tomorrow I’ll call my maintenance man to come over and fix it for me.

My boyfriend doesn’t have internet access at work so I realize how fortunate I am to be able to do this stuff here. I try not to take advantage and only blog and stuff during my lunch hour or whenever we’re really slow at work. I never blow off work to play on the internet. Unless I’m sleepy and need the distraction. Speaking of which, I’d better get back to work now.

Why I have a post office box

I just got a bill from the cd club that I belong to. It’s for a cd that I never ordered. It was for a cd I already have. They sent it around the same time that I declined getting the monthly selection. Besides I already have a used cisco cd. So what would I need with another one?

I live in an apartment building. We have really small mailboxes so if something doesn’t fit we have a community table where they will lay it. If the cd came, it was laid on the table and someone took it. I’ve lived here for a while and have never had a problem before. But like they say it only takes one time.

This is the main reason why I have a po box. I don’t have these issues with my box. I’ve had it for close to 10 years and I love it. I did consider getting rid of it since I don’t really get a lot of mail there anymore, but I’ve definitely decided to keep it now.

And no, I’m not paying for that cd.

Scraper sites

When you see a link-back or a comment do you visit the page that it comes from. What do you do if you realize it’s a scraper site? Scraper sites are sites that use headlines and blog entries from other people’s blogs as their own entries. They don’t write any original content. I usually delete the comments from those sites.

I know some people write them and ask them to take their entry down. So far the sites that have used my blog entries haven’t used a whole entry, just the headline. They’ve also given me a link back.

What do you do about scraper sites?

Cheering on my fellow bloggers resolutions

Elizabeth over a Table4Five.net has a blogroll going to encourage bloggers to work towards their New Years’ Resolutions. This way we can cheer and root for each other to reach our goals.

If you get a chance, check it out and join the fun!

2008 New Years Resolutions

Well I finally decided to write down my resolutions. Here they are in no particular order.

1. Save $500. Yep this was a resolution for this year but I had to pay for school so I used that money. This $500 can be cash and/or savings bonds.

2. Graduate from school. I need 4 classes and I want to do everything I can to finish by this December. The only way I won’t graduate is if classes are unavailable, I’ll find the money any way I can.

3. Pay at least $469.08 off of the principal of my car. If I pay this amount each year I can cut my car payment from 5 years to 4 years. I’ll pay a little each month and use a portion of any income tax money that I may get.

4. Get a promotion or a new job by March. I’m waiting for a promotion but if it doesn’t materialize by the end of the month I’ll start looking outside of my area. I should mention that my “promotion” has been in the works since late October so I’m tired of waiting.

5. Work towards my new net worth goal of 10k. I won’t reach that this year but I want to make some progress towards it. Right now I’m at 7k but I have to spend some of my savings on school so it will go down by the end of the month.

6. Lose another pants size by the end of the year. This was the only goal I actually met and maintained last year so I want to do it again. My ultimate goal is 2 sizes smaller but I’ll be happy with 1 size smaller.

Here’s hoping everyone meets their resolutions this year!
