Insane Random Ramblings

I was all set to write a post about my weekend (which was pretty good by the way), when my computer started acting up. It’s making all kinds of grinding noises and catching feedback from other peoples’ electronics. It’s the computer here at work which is a dinosaur.

Just before I left my old department, I had gotten a new computer. Now I come here and have another old computer. The company leases their equipment so I have to wait until the lease is up on this one before I get a new hard drive. Oh well, as long as it doesn’t act up in the middle of anything important.

So far we haven’t come up with anything to do this weekend. Gas is so expensive that I don’t think we’ll be driving anywhere far. We’ve been going to Ohio a lot lately but it’s getting expensive since my piece o’ crap car gets horrible gas mileage.

Yesterday we rode around and looked at homes in a very expensive area. When we got home, we looked up property values for that area. Most of the homes sold for $400k and higher. The commercial real estate in that area was even higher. We might drive around another expensive area and look at homes and dream.

I don’t think we’ll really do too much of anything though. We have to go food shopping this weekend but I think that will be the bulk of our travels. We live such exciting lives I know. Once I’m done with school and I have more disposable income. I’ll still have to concentrate on savings though. I’m using my money to pay for school so I’ll have to beef the savings back up.

I am kind of tired today. Maybe we’ll just relax all weekend.

I’ve only been at my job for 2 years so I only have 2 weeks vacation. That’s definitely different for me because on my last job I had 3 weeks. That extra week doesn’t seem like it would make a big difference but it does. I have to take 5 days together for my first week. Then I can break up the second week and take the days how I like.

Those days go by quick. You might get a couple of 3 day weekends and maybe one 4-day weekend if you’re lucky. But that’s about it. It’s not really enough time for a vacation especially since I don’t live near the beach. No Myrtle Beach, no Outer Banks, or even Wildwood would be nice. But with so little time off, it’s probably not even worth it to go. By the time I would get to my destination, it would be time to turn around and come back.

Maybe when I look for my next job, I should negotiate vacation time as well as my salary. 

I think I used this exact same title for a blog post a few weeks ago. I keep saying it because it’s really bad in here. I have 6 accounts on my desk right now. You have to order this one particular form in order to process them. Until you get that form, you can only go so far on the account. I have 6 orders in right now. While I wait for them, I can’t do anything else.

One of my contacts has already told me that I won’t get 2 of the forms for another 2 weeks. That leaves 4 accounts that I’m waiting on that will hopefully come by tomorrow. Then I can re-start those accounts and hopefully finish them on the same day. Until then, I’m surfing the net. I’ve looked at make-up, men’s fashion, and shoes. I’ve also looked at classes for school and I’ve looked into opening a savings account.

I hope things pick up. I can’t stand being bored at work.

It’s driving me crazy. I can listen to music on my computer or bring a small radio as long as I keep it low. Right now I’m trying to find streaming music on the internet. I can find my local radio station but I can’t find the live radio version. I keep finding this funky club fusion mix. Maybe that would be cool in the afternoon, but not at 8am.

Ughh. Maybe I’ll go home tonight and find what I want and send myself the links.

I have a lot of gift cards. I got some for the holidays. I got some from my mom because she got them as gifts. I also have a few from my credit card rewards. I try to get cards that I think I would want to spend but I can’t always control what type of place’s I get cards for.

I have 1 for a restaurant that I don’t even eat at. Today I finally spent the last of my Macy’s gc. I started to get women’s lingerie but I quickly changed my mind. I would like to see that type of stuff in person. Instead I opted to get some lipgloss and a sweater. There was a sale on the sweater so I got it for $10. I didn’t have to take any cash out of my pocket because the card totally covered it.

I love shopping and not using “real” money. I just wish I could do it more often.

I’m just tired of working right now. I haven’t had any real time off since last December and that was only 1 day. I just keep taking a day off here and a day off there. I don’t count sick days as days off. Technically I’m off but it’s not to relax, it’s because I don’t feel well.

I don’t have anything special that I want to do either. It’s not like I need to go to alcohol rehab or anything like that. I just want to stay home and relax. Not worry about getting up early, no phones ringing (I’ll take mine off the hook), and no coworkers chit-chatting about nothing.

Maybe once it warms up I’ll take a few days off to enjoy the sunshine. That’s probably all I need.

We went to the casino in Erie called Presque Isle. We were just driving around and didn’t have anything to do. John was showing me the showing me the short cut that he uses to get to NJ so we were all the way in Clarion County. Then he asked if I wanted to go to the casino and I said sure. So we headed over to Erie since I had never been there.

It sucked big time. The casino was small and very smoky. We both played several machines and had no luck. Every machine just sucked money down, they weren’t paying off at all. I didn’t see anyone really hitting on their machine. Even John (who gambles $20 max) said he wished we had gone to Wheeling instead.

My first trip to Presque Isle was probably my last!

I missed the party in my old department. In todays meeting, we were told that my new department is having a pizza party. We’re working on a special project and that’s there way of showing us their appreciation.

I feel kinda bad about participating though. I’m not on the project team and I’ve only been here 2 weeks so they’re not really thanking me. But my manager already said that it’s for everybody so I’ll go. Maybe I should go and pretend it’s a make-up party since I missed the other one.

We went food shopping last weekend and spent almost $75 for food for two people. But that food was only for 1 week. Yes 1 week! That’s ridiculous. Between the two of us, we were throwing junk food in the cart like crazy. When I go by myself, I tend to only get what I really need and not a lot of extra stuff. But this time I grabbed all kinds of junk that I know I didn’t really need.

We grabbed chips, cookies, and some kind of oatmeal pies. John was throwing stuff in the cart so fast that he would have thrown a Titleist golf club in there if I wasn’t watching him. We go shopping every week because the freezer is so small. But this weekend I may have to go by myself. I can not afford that much money every week.
