My headphones died

I’ve had my Ipod for 3 years now and it’s worked fine. About 3 or 4 months ago I noticed that my headphones were shredding down near the base. I’ve been planning on getting new headphones for a while but I kept putting it off. Well today they died on me. They were working this morning but this afternoon on my way home they were only working in one ear.

I’m going online to buy them. I hope I can get them for a good price. I should get a better price than in the store. I can also get one of those Bluetooth stereo headsets for John. I hate when he answers his phone while we’re driving. Maybe by getting both items at one time, I’ll get a discount on shipping. Or maybe even free shipping. That would be way better.

I can’t wait too long to get the headphones though. I catch the bus to work and I can’t stand listening to the people talking early in the morning. I have to drown them out anyway possible.

I’m plenty busy now

Since I started learning that new job, I’ve been super busy. It’s only been 2 days but it’s very detailed and involved. I thought I would finish the account by Thursday but that’s not gonna happen. It generally takes 6-8 days to finish each account. These documents are going to be filed in court so they have to be fairly perfect. That means no mistakes and triple check your work.

I just wonder how long it will be until I totally learn the job.

I’m finally learning something new

I was supposed to learn something new almost a month ago. However my workleader is slacking off and never showed me. Each week she would promise to sit with me and never did. She’s on vacation this week and my manager decided that I was learning it this week.

I started learning it today and boy is it something new. It’s a little different from what I do. But it’s very long, tedious and time consuming. I’ve worked on the account all day and I’m not even half way done. I’ll work on it tomorrow and should have it finished by Wednesday.

Once I get a few of these accounts under my belt, they’re going to show me something else. So within 2 weeks I’ll learn 2 new job functions. As long as it keeps me busy I’m not complaining!

Saturday shopping

We went to Walmart yesterday because John needed this mouthwash that he uses. It wasn’t on sale this week so we didn’t get it since he does have some at home. That stuff is expensive, it’s $6.75 for mouthwash! Ummm yeah. I just use toothpaste and call it a day.

We also looked at other stuff in the store. We couldn’t find a broom that we liked so he’ll hit a Dollar Tree or something for that. I was looking for a cheap whole room air conditioner but all I saw were Santa Fe dehumidifiers and smaller air conditioners. There were a few box fans but they just blow hot air around so I don’t need any more of those. There was a cheap futon that John was eyeballing. He’s going to read the reviews of it before he buys it. I’m sure it will be fine just to sit on.

We have to go back to Walmart on Tuesday to do our regular food shopping. We’ll probably get the futon then.

It’s been six months

That means it’s time to go shopping. No not for medical jewelry but for dum dum dum…..engagement rings. John thinks he’s getting out of it with a trinket type ring but I got news for him! I don’t want one of those huge honking rings just a nice sized stone. We all know those nice sized stones can set him back a pretty penny though.

I guess I know what I’ll be doing this weekend.

My Friday Five

In honor of Independence Day my topic will be: My top 5 freedoms I cherish most

  1. The right to vote - It’s an election year and every vote will count. In some countries women still can’t vote.
  2. Freedom of speech - I can call someone a goober-head and not have to worry about getting thrown into jail.
  3. Freedom of religion - I can worship under whatever religous umbrella I choose. If I want, I can even change religions
  4. The right to work wherever I want - As long as I’m qualified, I can work wherever I want without respect to race, creed, religion or sex.
  5. The right to free speech - Whether it’s on my blog or just in general, I can say what I want when I want. Here we are in 2008 and some people still don’t have that right!

Happy July 4th!!!!!!

Joke of the week

Birthday Miracles…

All of his life Len from Cape Breton had heard stories of an amazing family tradition. It seems that his father, grandfather and great-grandfather had all been able to walk on water on their 21st birthday. On that day, they’d walk across the lake to the boat club for their first legal drink.

So when Len’s 21st birthday came around, he and his pal Corky took a boat out to the middle of the lake. Len stepped out of the boat and nearly drowned!

Corky just managed to pull him to safety. Furious and confused, Len went to see his grandmother. ‘Grandma, it’s my 21st birthday, so why can’t I walk across the lake, like my father, his father, and his father before him?’

Granny looked Len straight in the eyes, and said, ‘Because, you idiot, your father, grandfather and great grandfather was born in January, you were born in July.’

We have a fire drill at work today

Every day I make a 11:00am run. I go to the convenience store in the building and buy a snack and a juice. Usually it’s just to get away from the office for a few minutes. This fire drill will cut right into my run as it starts at 10:00am. Once we get back into the building the store will be mobbed because everyone will come in at one time.

I hate when we have these stupid fire drills. We have to walk downstairs from the 9th floor. The highest floor in the building is 34. Those people will leave early and catch an elevator down. There’s no way we’re walking back up those steps though. I want exercise but not that much!

Joining forums to get traffic

One of the side benefits to joining different forums and social sites is that you meet new people. Once you talk to them and they get to know you, they visit your blog to learn more about you. Hopefully once they get here, they’ll decide that they like it and decide to come back.

I already belong to one forum but I don’t see a lot of traffic from it. Hopefully these new forums will have a better click-thru rate.
