Weird people on the bus

Ξ September 30th, 2008 | → 0 Comments | ∇ random |

I catch the bus with some strange birds. There is one man who gets on the bus every day with 3 or 4 bags. I don’t know if he has Samsonite luggage or what he’s taking to work, but it’s every day. I could understand 1 or 2 bags, but 3? I don’t even want to know what’s in those bags either.

Then there’s another strange guy. He’ll come to the back of the bus and stand. This morning, there were at least 10 seats to choose from. Yes, I did count them. lol. There were 2 sets of three seats across from each other. I was sitting in one seat and the other 5 were empty. He just stood there like always. When people got on the bus after him, they had to manuever around him to get to a seat. The bad thing is that people in the front of the bus see him standing and assume there are no empty seats.

There’s never a dull moment on public transportation.

They touched my clothes

Ξ September 29th, 2008 | → 0 Comments | ∇ random |

Ick, ick, ick!!!!!!!!! I wasn’t mad because I left the clothes in the dryer too long. I live in a apartment building and I know other people need to use the machines. My clothes had been dry about 1/2 hour when I went downstairs to get them.

They were piled up on top of the dryer. Like I said I wasn’t mad but I was grossed out. Some unknown stranger touched my undies. They should have been grossed out too because they didn’t know who’s undies they were touching.

The sad part is the next time I do laundry, I’ll probably leave them down there too long again.

Does anyone update on the weekends?

Ξ September 28th, 2008 | → 0 Comments | ∇ sports, blogging, blog |

There are several blogs that I didn’t expect to be updated. It’s the weekend and I realize that people have other things to do. But one of the blogs is a sports blog. Ummm, all kinds of sports are on this weekend. The baseball playoffs are coming into view. You have NCAA and NFL football. NASCAR, golf and a bunch of other stuff if you’re into it.

I guess it’s time to branch out and read some new blogs. And drop some of the others. They’re really disappointing as of late. Especially since they only seem to be updating twice a week, if that.

Maybe I should just stick with ESPN. I know they’ve updated their pages.

My Friday Five

Ξ September 26th, 2008 | → 0 Comments | ∇ Friday Five |

Today my Friday five is all about sports:

  1. I can’t believe the Yankees didn’t make the playoffs. It’s the first time in 15 years that they didn’t even get to the first round. They have played horrible all year but I figured they would turn it around. No such luck this year.
  2. Hank Steinbrenner needs to shut up! Stop whining. Ok so a division leader in the National League has a worse record than you but they’re making the playoffs. Wah wah wah, you know the rules….win and you’re in.
  3. Ugh, I can’t believe we lost to the Eagles. Yuck! I’ve been working closely with some people on Philadelphia jobs and that’s all I’ve been hearing this week.
  4. I know we don’t play this week until Monday night but I still hope there are some good games on tv on Sunday. I don’t have anything planned and I don’t want to watch the House marathon this weekend. Even if it’s only one good game, I’ll be happy.
  5. I don’t know if I should root for the Mets or the Brewers. I hate both teams. Of course I want the Phillies to win the division. But I don’t know who to root for to win the wildcard. I guess the Mets although I don’t like them. I think my dislike for the Brewers is even stronger!

Have a great weekend.

I need to stop eating so much junk food

Ξ September 25th, 2008 | → 0 Comments | ∇ health, food |

Ugh. Lately I’ve been on a junk food kick. Every week when I go to the store it’s a different thing. A few weeks ago it was fruit, which isn’t bad. Then it was chips last week. This week it’s cookies. Not just any cookies, but Famous Amos chocolate chip with pecans. They are so good. I’ve been looking online for cookie recipes to see if I can make them at home. I know they wouldn’t come out as good so I won’t even bother.

I know I’m allergic to chocolate and I’m gonna pay for this sooner or later. But for now, I’ll just enjoy the cookies.

Joke of the week

Ξ September 25th, 2008 | → 0 Comments | ∇ joke of the week |

One bright, beautiful Sunday morning, everyone in the
tiny town of Johnstown got up early and went to the local
church. Before the services started, the townspeople were
sitting in their pews and talking about their lives, their
families, etc.

Suddenly, the Devil himself appeared at the front of the
congregation. Everyone started screaming and running for
the front entrance, trampling each other in a frantic
effort to get away from evil incarnate.

Soon everyone was evacuated from the Church, except for
one elderly gentleman who sat calmly in his pew, not
moving, seemingly oblivious to the fact that God’s ultimate
enemy was in his presence.

Now this confused Satan a bit, so he walked up to the man
and said, “Don’t you know who I am?”

The man replied, “Yep, sure do.”

Satan asked, “Aren’t you afraid of me?”

“Nope, sure ain’t,” said the man.

Satan was a little perturbed at this and queried, “Why
aren’t you afraid of me?”

The man calmly replied, “Been married to your sister for
over 48 years.”

Just a quick comment

Ξ September 24th, 2008 | → 0 Comments | ∇ sports, Yankees, baseball |

This will be really quick. I’m really surprised at the number of “sports-bloggers” who haven’t said a peep about the last game at Yankee stadium. I know a lot of people are Yankee-haters so I’m not surprised about them. I am surprised by a blog that I read that usually takes the opportunity to make fun of anyone in the sports world, yet didn’t say anything about the 18 people arrested for theft.

I guess the love-hate relationship runs deeper than I thought.

I still need to download music to my mp3 player

Ξ September 23rd, 2008 | → 0 Comments | ∇ music |

I use a ipod right now. But the songs don’t play on it. At first I thought it was the headphones so I got new ones. Then I noticed that most of the songs either drag or you can only hear the music but the lyrics are faded out. It’s really weird. I don’t even know why it’s happening.

I have a mp3 player that I haven’t downloaded music onto yet. My first excuse was that the player takes a regular AAA battery, which I didn’t have. I finally got some batteries and now I need music. I have a bunch of cd’s that I’ll go through and download those first. Then I’ll go and buy songs online from somewhere.

I didn’t cry during the game

Ξ September 22nd, 2008 | → 0 Comments | ∇ sports, Yankees, baseball |

I didn’t cry but I almost did. Not because of the game but because of the speeches and the end of the game. It was just really an emotional experience.

They introduced the players like the did during the All-Star game. They ended the introductions of past players and coaches with Bernie Williams. They still love Bernie in NY. Bernie got what seemed like a 5 minute ovation. It was definitely the longest ovation of the night. The Babe Ruth’s 92 year old daughter threw out the ceremonial first pitch to Jorge Posada. I was glad to see Jorge take part in the festivities although he’s hurt.

After the game, Derek Jeter gave a speech surrounded by all of his team-mates. Then they walked around the stadium waving to the fans. The players took pictures with each other, they took pictures of the fans and gave out autographs and souvenirs. It was awesome.

It’s something I wish I could have been a part of.

Here are the last memorable plays at Yankee Stadium:
Last hit Jason Giambi

Last Home Run Jose Molina

Last Winning Pitcher Andy Pettit

Last Winning Save Mariano Rivera (Of course!!!!!!!!!!)

I think even non-Yankee fans would have enjoyed the celebration. Except Yankee-haters…I’m sure they didn’t like it. It’s just too bad it’s over. It was such a great thing to watch.

I shouldn’t cry over a baseball game

Ξ September 21st, 2008 | → 0 Comments | ∇ sports, Yankees, baseball |

But I know I will. The Yankees are playing their final game at Yankee Stadium tonight. ESPN has basically been YankeesTV all day today. I’ve been watching football so I haven’t watched any of it.

I know I’ll cry tonight. Not because the Yankees are all but eliminated from the playoffs. Not because this will probably be the last time this season I get to see A-Rod play. But I’ll cry for sentimental reasons.

I cried when Cal Ripken broke the consecutive games streak.

I cried when the Steelers played their last game at Three Rivers Stadium.

I cried then Barry Bonds (Mr. *) broke the home run record.

Hell, I even cry at commercials. I know it’s coming.

Just as an aside, why is there no love for the Mets? This is the last season at their stadium too.
