My Friday Five

Ξ October 31st, 2008 | → 0 Comments | ∇ Friday Five |

This is going to be a busy weekend for me. This is my top 5 things to do this weekend:

  1. Get my car inspected. The inspection actually end today but I’ll get the car inspected on Sunday.
  2. Go shopping for my friends baby shower. Maybe I’ll get her a bunch of diapers wholesale or something. I really have no idea what to get. I really hate buying presents but not as much as I hate going to baby showers.
  3. Write my mini-essay for class that’s due Monday. He just sent us the topic yesterday so it’s not like I’ve been sitting on the assignment at all.
  4. Prepare my presentation for the same class. It’s supposed to be a group project from 5-7 minutes long. I’ll try to write as much as I can so whenever I get to class it will be almost done.
  5. Study for my mid-term exam. It’s going to be a short exam only 33 questions. Most of the questions will be multiple choice with a few short answer questions.

Most of the stuff I’ll be doing this weekend has to do with school and I still have 2 or 3 other things to do. I’ll be super busy but I hope you have a great weekend!

Joke of the week

Identity Crisis…

An old cowboy dressed to kill with a cowboy shirt, hat, jeans, spurs, and chaps went to a bar and ordered a drink.

As he sat sipping his whiskey, a young lady sat down next to him. After she ordered her drink, she turned to the cowboy and asked him, “Are you a real cowboy?” To which he replied, “Well, I have spent my whole life on the ranch, herding cows, breaking horses, mending fences. I guess I am.”

After a short while, he asked her what she was. She replied, “I am a lesbian. I spend my whole day thinking about women. As soon as I get up in the morning I think of women, when I eat, shower, watch TV, everything seems to make me think of women.”

A short while later she left and the cowboy ordered another drink. A couple sat down next to him and asked, “Are you a real cowboy?” To which he replied, “I always thought I was, but I just found out that I’m a lesbian.”

The Philadelphia Phillies are 2008 World Series Champs!

Ξ October 30th, 2008 | → 0 Comments | ∇ Phillies, sports, baseball |

Wow! I don’t know if I thought they could really pull it off. I knew they were good but let’s face it, they were playing a damn good Rays team. I just knew the Rays would battle back like they did against the Red Sox. Imagine my surprise when the Phils totally shut them down. Evan Longoria and Carlos Pena were almost non-existant in their games they were so ineffective.

You just know the Rays will be back next year. The core of their team remains intact and they’re a pretty young unit. I think the average age of their starting pitchers is 26. I honestly don’t think it will be that long before we see them back in a series. And you just know that they’ll win one eventually. Sorry to say I’m glad it wasn’t this year. 28 years is a long time for a city to wait for a championship. I’m glad the city of Brotherly Love finally gets to celebrate one again. Maybe they’ll even take it easy on Santa this year!

Congrats to the Philadelphia Phillies!!!!!!!!

Are you kidding me with this weather?

Ξ October 28th, 2008 | → 0 Comments | ∇ random |

This weather is absolutely crazy. It was windy and freezing cold today. In the eastern part of the state it snowed pretty heavily. I am so not ready for this. I know winter is coming but gee wiz it’s still supposed to be fall. I don’t wanna skip straight through to winter.

Actually I wouldn’t mind if we could go back to summer.

I haven’t been blogging much lately

Ξ October 27th, 2008 | → 0 Comments | ∇ blogging, blog |

I written maybe 4 posts over the past 7 days which is very unusual for me. I usually write something at least once a day. I’m always online even if it’s only to use Google to look up things like sports scores, a Mesothelioma lawyer, or financial quotes. Well for the past few weeks I haven’t even wanted to see a financial quote because they’re so depressing. I have been online though.

I’ve just been so busy with school that I really haven’t had time to blog. I had a book to read and a paper to write. Then for today I had another set of questions that I had to prepare for our in-class guest speaker. This week I’ll have to study for my mid-term which is next Monday.

I also haven’t been feeling very well lately. I’m pretty run down and tired all of the time. Even though I’ve been writing about baseball and football, I haven’t been watching it like I usually do. I’ll glance at the score every so often but I’m not engrossed in the game.

Hopefully I be back to normal within the next day or two.

Phillies lead the World Series 3-1

Ξ October 27th, 2008 | → 0 Comments | ∇ I love Ryan Howard, Phillies, sports, baseball |

Wow I can’t believe this. The Phillies are leading the Rays 3 games to 1. Ryan Howard unleashed 2 monster home runs. One for 3 run and 1 for 2 runs. Even the pitcher Joe Blanton had a homer! Game 5 is in Philly and Cole Hamels will be on the mound. Things are looking good for the Phils.

I can’t believe I have class tomorrow night and I’ll miss the beginning of the game. I probably won’t get home until the 3rd or 4th inning. Sometimes school sucks!

Go Phillies!!!!!!!!!!!

My Friday Five

Ξ October 24th, 2008 | → 0 Comments | ∇ Friday Five |

I don’t have a topic for today so I’ll just post 5 random items.

  1. I still haven’t read my book for class. I’ll probably read it tomorrow and Sunday before the game.
  2. I need to balance my checkbook again. It’s been almost a month and I’m way out of balance. That’s why I always keep a cushion in my account.
  3. I have to take my car to be inspected sometime within the next week. The sticker expires at the end of the month.
  4. I need to shop for my friends baby shower. I have no idea what to get. I don’t even like baby showers :-/
  5. Our boss had a catered breakfast for us today at work and it was delicious. I usually have oatmeal or cereal for breakfast because I’m too lazy to go to the cafeteria in the morning. It was a welcome treat.

Have a great weekend.

Joke of the week

Ξ October 23rd, 2008 | → 0 Comments | ∇ joke of the week |

A newscaster interrupted scheduled programming to announce
the outcome of a political election. “More on candidates
at 10 p.m.,” he said. My ten-year-old granddaughter Ashley
looked at me in disbelief.

“I didn’t know they could call politicians ‘morons’ on TV.”

I have a lot to do this weekend

Ξ October 21st, 2008 | → 0 Comments | ∇ shopping, random, school |

I have to read a book for school that I’ve been putting off for a few weeks. The author of the book is coming to our class to speak about his experiences. We can’t look like complete fools in front of the author. It would also make our professor look bad and we definitely can’t have that. I also got what I thought were wedding invitations in the mail. Turns out it’s wasn’t that. It’s a invite to my coworkers baby shower on Saturday. I have no idea what to get her. That means I have to go to one of the stores that she has on her registry. There are a few that I don’t even shop at. I’m sure I’ll find something nice though.

On top of all of that, I have to have my car inspected this weekend. My inspection runs out at the end of the month and I won’t have time next week after class. That means an all day trip to the shop. At least I’ll get to read my book while I’m waiting for them to finish my car. I might as well kill two birds with one stone.

Phillies vs the Rays World Series

Ξ October 20th, 2008 | → 0 Comments | ∇ Phillies, sports, baseball |

Bleh I’m not really excited about this World Series. I love the Phillies and that’s who I’ll be rooting for but still. I could care less about the Rays. I don’t care if they win at all. Magical season yadda yadda yadda big bull-hoey. I really wanted the Red Sox to win and play the Phillies.

I think this will be a boring series. I can’t wait to see the ratings for it.
