2008 Resolutions Update

Well the year is rapidly drawing to a close. This is a update on how I did with this years resolutions.

  1. Yes/No - I did save the amount that I wanted but I had to later spend it for school.
  2. No - I won’t graduate in 2008.
  3. No - I was supposed to pay $469.08 off of the principal of my car. I didn’t even come close to that amount, it was more like $75. I also have no idea why I made it such an odd amount.
  4. Yes - did get a new job in March of this year so I was right on target with that goal.
  5. No - I didn’t increase my net worth to 10k. Part of it was because I spent almost all of my available cash, but the economy tanking had a lot to do with it as well.
  6. Yes/No - I did lose a pants size, that’s the yes. But there’s also a no because I didn’t get to the size I wanted. I wanted to go from a 14 to a 12. However I started at a size 16. I didn’t realize this until well after the fact. Anyway, I did lose a size and get to a 14 so I did make some progress.

Not a total failure but not where I wanted to be either. I do know that I will work much harder to make my 2009 goals come true. I’ll be posting the new resolutions tomorrow.

Have a safe and Happy New Year!

I’m working on my New Year’s resolutions

Tomorrows post will be where I ended up in 2008, which isn’t very pleasant. Then on New Year’s Day, I will post my 2009 resolutions. Now I need to spend the rest of today drafting all of my numbers and figures. What fun, not!

My spa day was wonderful

I made yesterday my spa day. After I watched 2 football games I went and started my treatment. I took a nice long bubble bath. I exfoliated and just really pampered myself. I think it took me at least 90 minutes in all. I felt really good once I got done. I plan on doing this more often.

Then only downfall is that I scrubbed a little too hard so my skin pretty sensitive today. Now I know the next time to take it easy. And there will definitely be a next time.

Bringing in some extra cash

I’m way behind on my savings goals. I spent most of my cash this year paying for school. Doing that caused me to dip into my savings account as well as use my regular paycheck money. Now I’m trying to think of ways to bring some extra money in. With 1 or 2 classes in the spring, a second job is almost out of the picture. I’m thinking about starting another home based business but I haven’t decided what I want to do yet. I don’t want to open another store because I don’t want to have to worry about inventory.

If I would get my writing together, I could probably do that free-lance. Now I just need to get motivated and start writing.

I’m glad it’s over

Christmas that is. I don’t live near my family and I couldn’t go home this year. I wasn’t exactly looking forward to the holiday season at all. I’m just ready to get back to normal. Well as normal as can be until after New Year’s Day. Then everything will really be back to normal.

A quick update

Since this Thursday is Christmas and the following Thursday is New Years Day, there won’t be a joke of the week on either day. I probably won’t do my Friday Five posts either. I’ll still try to have some posts done but just not those particular ones.

I didn’t get everything done on my list

And just guess which things got left off of my list? Of all of the things to leave off, it was my writing and my spa day! I really need to get both done too. I have some ideas that I really need to write down. I don’t know why I keep procrastinating either. The longer I wait, the more diluted the ideas will be. I need to write them down while they’re fresh in my mind. I know this yet I still don’t do it. Hopefully I’ll get some writing done this week.

I don’t even know why I skipped my spa day. I really do need to exfoliate my skin and that seems like a nice relaxing way to spend the day. I’ll probably do it this weekend. Who knows, I have off on Thursday and I don’t have any plans. Maybe I’ll do it then.

My Friday Five

These are the 5 things I’m doing this weekend:

  1. Getting my eyes examined for new contact lenses. I’m not getting glasses until next year. I actually hate getting my eyes examined but I just need to get it over with.
  2. Finally balancing my checkbook after a month and a half. I have no idea how much I have or where.
  3. Figuring out my budget for school. I need to make 2 separate budgets though. I’m taking 2 classes but I need to change one. If I can’t get into the other class, I’ll only take 1 now and 1 in the summer.
  4. Set aside at least 2 hours on Saturday to write. I have a few ideas that I need to get down on paper. Once I get going I can go on to the next step which is trying to market them. But one step at a time.
  5. Having a at home budget spa day. I can’t wait for this on Sunday. I need to get up early on Sunday so I don’t miss any of the games. It should be a nice relaxing day.

 Have a great weekend!

My face is a mess

Ugh it’s terrible. The worse part is that I know exactly why it looks the way it does. Last week I wrote a post about how I ate a bunch of junk food. It was mostly chocolate, which I’m allergic to. Anyway this week my face looks like swiss cheese. I still had a bunch of chocolate left and I hurry up and ate it just to get rid of it. Now I want to go get some of the best fat burners I can find that also flush out your system so I can get rid of all of the chocolate. At least then maybe my face would clear up.

The next time I order candy from a coworker, I’ll make sure to freeze some instead eating it all at one time.

Joke of the week

An elderly man in Florida had owned a large farm for
several years. He had a  large pond in the back, fixed
up nice: picnic tables, horseshoe courts, a volleyball
court, and so me apple and peach trees. The pond was
properly shaped and fixed up for swimming. One evening
the old farmer decided to go down to the pond and look
it over, as he hadn’t been there for a while. He grabbed
a five gallon bucket to bring back some fruit. As he
neared the pond, he heard voices shouting and laughing
with glee. As he came closer he saw it was a bunch of
young women skinny-dipping in his pond. He made the women
aware of his presence and they all went to the deep end.

One of the women shouted to him, “We’re not coming out
until you leave!”

The old man frowned, “I didn’t come down here to watch you
ladies swim naked or make you get out of the pond naked.”

Holding the bucket up he said, “I’m here to feed the
alligator.”
