WAMO 106.7 Officially off the air
Back in May Sheridan Broadcasting sold their urban radio station to a Christian broadcasting station. Sheridan cited a changing market as reason for the sale. According to Sheridan, there is a new people meter that measures ratings. In markets where the new system has taken place, Black and Hispanic ratings have gone down 40%. Some say the reason is because the meters aren’t evenly distributed to minorities skewing results. Read the article: here
According to Wikipedia: “As of 6:07PM EST, Tuesday, September 8, 2009, WAMO-FM 106.7 discontinued broadcasting. Its last song was Boyz II Men’s ‘It’s So Hard to Say Goodbye To Yesterday’, and then silence.”
