I have been so tired lately

Usually it’s just on Monday afternoons that I’m tired but this week was different. I slept all day Tuesday. Then I slept for almost 3 hours yesterday and today. I even went to be early all week. Early for me anyway. I don’t know what’s causing it either. I haven’t changed my shedule or my eating habits. I’m not really stressed about anything. Well I am waiting to hear whether or not I got this new job but I’m more nervous than stressed about it.

I hope I get a decent amount of rest this weekend. At least the clocks fall back so I’ll get an extra hour’s worth of sleep. If I go through this next week even the best eye cream on the market won’t help me. I’m surprised that I don’t really have bags now. I just woke up after my nap and I’m still tired.

I think I’ll go to be early tonight too.

Joke of the week

An elderly couple, Margaret and Bert, moved to Texas.

Bert always wanted a pair of authentic cowboy boots, so, seeing some on sale, he bought them and wore them home.

Walking proudly, he sauntered into the kitchen and said to his wife, ‘Notice anything different about me?’

Margaret looked him over. ‘Nope.’

Frustrated, Bert stormed off into the bathroom, undressed and walked back into the kitchen completely naked except for the boots.

Again he asked Margaret, a little louder this time, ‘Notice anything different NOW?’

Margaret looked up and exclaimed, ‘Bert, what’s different? It’s hanging down today, it was hanging down yesterday, it’ll be hanging down again tomorrow!’

Furious, Bert yelled,
‘AND DO YOU KNOW WHY IT’S HANGING DOWN, MARGARET?’

‘Nope’, she replied.

‘IT’S HANGING DOWN, BECAUSE IT’S LOOKING AT MY NEW BOOTS!!!

Without changing her expression, Margaret replied, ‘Shoulda bought a hat, Bert, Shoulda bought a hat.’

I can’t wait until tonight

I totally missed yesterday. No seriously - the whole day. I was sick and all I did was sleep. I had a migraine straight from Hell. I got out of bed for about 2 hours then went back to bed for the night. Once I woke up this morning I knew that it was the first day of the World Series.

I’m so excited for the game that I don’t know what to do. My Mom (who hates all sports) is rooting for the Phillies (who she especially hates) just because they’re the “home” team. I’m leaning towards the Yankees although I’m still torn.

Jacoby Ellsbury was on Sports Nation last night and his thinks that the team that wins Game 1 will win the whole shebang. I like that idea, especially if the Yankees win the first game.

Alicia Keys and Jay Z were supposed to perform tonight but due to weather conditions they’ve been pushed back until tomorrow. The official reason is that the stage and equipment can affect the field if there is inclement weather. Oh well, at least they will still get to perform. Alicia is supposed to also sing the National Anthem. At least it won’t be someone screeching.

Go Yanks!

The World Series is set

And it’s my dream/nightmare match-up. The Phillies vs the Yankees starts on Wednesday. I love both teams so I don’t know how I can decide on which team to root for. I’m a homer so I root for the Phils but for the past few years I’ve been rooting for the Yanks. I was so happy last year that the Phillies finally won but I also hated the Rays. Can I root for them again this year?

I don’t know but I can’t wait until Wednesday for the series to start.

Randomosity

I just have a bunch of observations today. So let’s just jump right in:

  1. I wrote a post about not being thrilled with the Monopoly game from McDonald’s. I just kept hearing everyone else rave about it. Well I finally found a article that shares my opinion. It’s not that I needed the validation but it feels good not to be on that island alone.
  2. I’m glad the Phillies beat the Dodgers and are headed to the World Series. However I’m only rooting for them if the Angels beat the Yankees.
  3. Which brings me to my next point. I wanted the Yankees to wrap up their series yesterday but in a weird way I’m glad they lost. They seem to be reading their own press. The media had them in the World Series days ago when they were up 2-1. Maybe now they’ll focus harder and put down the papers. I want them to wrap this series up. I really don’t want them to have to go to a game 7.
  4. I need to go shopping this weekend. My weight loss is going good so I may not look at treadmills but I am going to buy some healthy fruits and vegetables. I did my stock up trip last week so I’m good with personal items for a few months.
  5. I can’t wait for Sunday to see Brett Favre. It’s hard to believe that man is 40 years old the way he plays. One of our local announcers said that the 4th quarter will probably be a shoot-out. I haven’t been this excited to see a game in a while.

Have a great weekend.

Joke of the week

“Imagine if every Thursday your shoes exploded if you tied them the usual way. This happens to us all the time with computers, and nobody thinks of complaining.”

- Jef Raskin

I won’t be going to the World Series

At least not this year anyway. I put my name into a random drawing to be able to buy tickets but I wasn’t picked. I even tried to hedge my bets by entering through the Yankees and Phillies sites. I figure I wouldn’t travel to the West Coast if the Dodgers or Angels win but I could drive to New York or Philly. I had even planned on buying new car accessories for the drive. I wanted to buy a GPS and a mp3 docking station for music. There is a long stretch of highway where you get no reception and it’s very boring.

Unfortunately it’s not in the cards for me this year. But you can best believe I’m going to try again next year.

I’m gonna miss Santonio

I withdrew too much money yesterday by accident. I wasn’t paying attention and instead of the $100 button, I hit $300. I didn’t want that much extra cash laying around the house so I went down to the branch to deposit the excess money.

Once I got down there, I saw a line of people outside the bank just milling around. Then I noticed two city cops standing there. I still didn’t know what was going on until I walked inside. All over the branch was signs saying that Santonio Holmes was going to be signing autographs from 11:30am-1pm.

If I had known I would have brought my shirt from home for him to sign. We usually see all kinds of stuff on the company internet site but there was no mention of this. I guess they didn’t want the branch to get mobbed. Oh well, maybe next time.

I’m glad the weather finally broke

The past week and a half was cold. I mean really cold. We didn’t have snow like they did in New England or Denver but it was freezing outside. It was hat, scarf and glove weather. A few of the days it was warm in the morning but got colder as the day went on. This week will be much nicer. Most days will be in the mid to upper 60’s. I get to take off the heavy stuff but I still plan on wearing my heavy coat.

The last thing I want to do right now is get sick and it’s that kind of weather.

I don’t trust my neighbors

I’m not worried about them doing anything to me but to themselves. Lately quite a few of my neighbors have been drinking heavily and several of them smoke. The apartments have air filters and smoke detectors but I know that most people disable them which is troublesome. I don’t want to have to wory about someone getting drunk and falling asleep and causing a fire.

Our apartments are too close together and that’s not necessarily a good thing. That’s just another reason why I’m looking to buy in the near future.
