I need to stockpile some posts

There are days like today when I really don’t have anything to say. I mean I do but I can’t always put it into words. That’s why I generally stockpile at least 3 or 4 posts for emergencies. That way all I have to do is edit the post to make it current and hit publish. I can write about anything from tv stands to Tiger Woods and his latest drama. But today I’ve hit a wall.

I should be back to normal tomorrow. I guess all of those days off last week knocked me off of my game.

Today’s Swagbucks deal

No I don’t plan on providing a day-by-day account of the gift cards on sale. But since today is the first day of their blowout deal I figured I would post about it.

Today’s deal is a $10 Barnes & Noble gift card for 99 swagbucks instead of the normal 125. That’s a savings of 26 swagbucks to spend on something else. I’m not much of a book person but that’s a pretty good deal.

I plan on saving my points for a Southwest or Amazon giftcard. I guess I’ll be stalking the site for the next few weeks.

Swagbucks is blowing out gift cards starting Black Friday

I love Swagbucks. They’re a search engine that makes searching the internet fun. They give away what they call “Swagbucks” on random searches. Then you save the bucks and turn them in for neat prizes. Starting Black Friday and lasting until January 1st, they’re going to blow out a different gift card every day.

You can even get the same gift card on different days for a different blow out price. So you may get Amazon one day for 25% off then the next week it may be 40% off of the regular price. Now when I say price, I mean swagbucks price because you don’t pay for them.

I really want the SouthWest gift card to go half off so I can get a discount on my next trip. But I surely won’t turn down a discounted Amazon gift card, I can get  a WII fit or a collectible gold coin. They’re both things that I want and have been saving for but to get them with a free gift card is even better.

I can’t wait to see what gift cards will be available.

What a difference a week makes

Last week it was super busy. Now this week is very slow and quiet. Most people are using vacation for at least part of the week so it should be quiet for the rest of the week as well.

It just seems so strange to not hear a lot of chit-chat and keyboards clicking. Weird. I had better enjoy it this week because next week everyone will be back and it will be back to normal. You know - where madness and chaos reign.

No shopping for me this Black Friday

I wanted to get out this Friday and hit a couple of the Black Friday sales. I need a new computer so I was looking for a good sale. I’ve seen one computer that’s on sale but the price is really comparable to a regular-priced computer at that same store. The monitor is a little larger and that’s really about it. The processors and ram is just about even on both systems. So there’s no need for me to rush and get it. I also wanted to buy some new shoes this week. A new pair of Cole Haan shoes or a pair of Nine West pumps was really high on my list.

Unfortunately too many people are off at my job so I have to be here. I was planning on working anyway but the office will be extremely short-staffed. That means I have to be on my p’s and q’s because I have to be able to help out my coworkers. I surely won’t be able to do that if I’m exhausted from shopping all morning.

Maybe I’ll get out Saturday and pick up some stuff. I’m sure I’ll still be able to find some sales still going on even if it’s not the blow-out sales that I’m used to.

Work is so busy

It’s ridiculous that we’re so busy. Usually this is a pretty slow time of the year. But I guess with the economy being so bad I guess people are cashing out there accounts to pay bills or shop for Christmas. All I know is that it’s causing us major headaches. My benefits selections were due this week and I almost missed signing up. I’m not old enough to worry about Medicare supplement insurance yet but I still need to make sure I have the right coverage. Luckily my current plan was still available so I just rolled it over to next year.

I hope work is slow next week because I have a ton of stuff to finish from this week. Then we get into the first couple of weeks of December and it gets busy all over again. I guess there really is no rest for the weary.

One of the crazy things that happened yesterday

Yesterday was totally weird. All of the things happened before I even started work. One thing happened just outside of my job. I was walking across the courtyard towards my building when a man standing by the ATM dropped his wallet. Everything in his pocket fell out including everything in the wallet. His credit cards, money and id hit the ground.

Someone went to bend over to help him when he shouted “No!” really loud, spread his arms spread eagle and got into a football stance. You really have to imagine it to get the full visual. Then you’ll see how funny it was.

I do understand him not wanting anyone to touch his stuff, especially since it was sensitive information. But that was a crazy scene at 8 o’clock in the morning.

What a week

There is some crazy stuff going on man. Not just in my life but in general. I’ve had a few crazy experiences lately that I’ll chronicle later.

Right now I feel like I’m in the twilight zone.

I can’t wait until next Friday

The Black Friday sales are going to be crazy. There are so many things that I want but I can’t afford them. I really need a computer so that’s what I’m looking for. I’m also pricing a new flat screen tv for a future purchase. I don’t need one right now but I still want to see how cheap I can really get one for. I may even splurge and buy myself a Diamond Initial Pendant or even a new pair of earrings.

I have to work so I won’t have a lot of time to shop though. So after Thanksgiving dinner I’ll take a nap so I can get up super early and get what I need then head straight to work. I don’t relish the thought of fighting with the crowds but if I see a computer for a great price, it’s every man for himself.

Quote of the day

“Imagine if every Thursday your shoes exploded if you tied them the usual way. This happens to us all the time with computers, and nobody thinks of complaining.”
