Waiting is the worse

I’m waiting to hear about a job that I interviewed for. Out of all of the jobs that I applied and interviewed for, I really want this one. It’s a entry level job with the opportunity to learn a lot and really advance within the area. Unfortunately I don’t think I got the job and I’m very impatiently waiting to hear something.

With any luck I’ll hear something within the next couple of days.

All of my coworkers are getting married

Well not all of them, there are only 2 right now. One ran away last weekend and eloped to Reno. The other coworker is getting married in May and it can’t get here fast enough, for her or us in the office. Every other day we’re getting a wedding update. It’s flowers this and music that. I hope they’re paying attention to the insurance marketing that’s being done right now. As a new couple that’s going to be something important that they need to look into.

I hope no one else decides to get married any time soon. I don’t think I can take another round of wedding updates.

Making good use of my time in the checkout line

The store was packed last night when I went in. It wasn’t for the sales either because my store runs its sales from Thursday through Wednesday. I was really surprised by how many people were there.

Needless to say the lines were very long. I was by myself and bored so I picked up a magazine and started leafing through it. The first article that got my eye was how to lose weight without buying exercise equipment. Which was only partly true. It’s a walking regiment but you still need to do other exercises to blast the fat off. I did give me a few ideas to work with though.

I figure if I have to stand in that long line, I may as well entertain myself for free.

I need a cheap airfare to Las Vegas

I’m not really going for vacation, I would just be going for a few days. I went to a casino in Las Vegas almost 18 months ago and they still send me comps for free rooms. Most of the time it’s for 2 days but recently it’s been for an entire weekend. If I go in this month or next they will also give me some cash to play with.

The cost of airfare is cost prohibitive though. My airfare would be even higher than the amount of cash that I would be getting back by over $100.00. I don’t think I’ll be a winner because let’s face it, most people aren’t. If I could find a good deal on airfare I would definitely like to go.

Hopefully some airline will have a big fare sale pretty soon. I really want to go before it gets too hot.

Joke of the week

Justice

Chip went to the doctor to get a double dose of Viagra, but his request was denied.“Why can’t I have a double dose?” Chip asked. “It’s not safe,” the doctor replied.

“But I need it really bad,” Chip explained.

“My girlfriend is coming into town on Friday, one of my exes will be here on Saturday, and my wife is coming home on Sunday.”

“Okay, I’ll give it to you,” the doctor relented. “But you have to come in on Monday morning so that I can check to see if there are any side effects.”

On Monday Chip dragged himself into the doctor’s office with his right arm in a sling. The doctor asked, “What happened to you?”

Chip said, “No one showed up.”

Only 12 more days

Opening day is in 12 more days and I can’t wait. For me, baseball signals the fact that spring is really here and summer is rapidly approaching. Even though it can get cold for some of the earlier games, I still can’t wait until they start.

Now I need to go print out a schedule to so when my favorite teams play and where.

Why aren’t those people at work?

That was the question I kept asking myself yesterday as I watched a spring training baseball game. The game was sold out and it was packed. Then I realized that if not only was I off work yesterday, but if I lived in Florida I would have been at the game too. It’s not often that I get to see certain teams play so I go to their games whenever I have a chance.

I guess since it was a Monday and during work hours you just don’t think of people being at baseball games. However as someone who used to work evenings, I should know better than anyone that not everyone works M-F and 9am-5pm. I used to work 3pm-11pm as my latest shift. You do a lot of work during those hours too. You don’t get to sit around looking for eczema pictures on the internet. You job is to make sure all of that days work is completed before midnight. Some days you are very busy and some days you’re just moderately busy.

But those hours do have their perks. Like going to spring training baseball games at 12 noon on a workday.

I spent way too much money yesterday

I had some extra money from my paycheck and boy did I spend it. I went shopping for food and household items. I wanted to buy protein powder for my diet but instead I decided on a diet shake drink. I also bought a ton of fresh fruit which I’m enjoying right now. I did forget to get a new shower curtain though. I would go back and get it but if I step foot in the store again within the next few days, I’ll overspend again.

I’ll give myself a few days to cool off. Believe me, I’ve spent more than enough money this weekend.

When does the baseball season start?

A few days ago I saw a commercial for a Saturday baseball game. They have 3 games that it could possibly be. Depending on where you live there is 1 national game and then there are two local games. I got really excited when I saw one of the games because it was a team that I like. The other two games were pretty decent teams as well.

Then they announced the day of the game. It was something crazy like April 17th. Which is a month from now! They had me all amped up like the games were next week. It’s bad enough that opening day is still almost 2 weeks away, now I gotta look forward to 4 weeks from now to see a good game.

I need to check out a few teams’ schedules around me. A road trip might be in order this summer depending on who’s playing and where.

My funny jacket story

At least it’s funny to me. I wear one of those big shirts/jackets every day at work. I’m always cold and no matter how many muscle supplements or vitamins I take, it doesn’t help. Yesterday was freezing in the office. It was at least 10 degrees cooler than outside so I threw my jacket across my shoulders like a shawl like I always do.

I walked around like that for over an hour before a coworker asked me if I realized that it was inside out! It was funny too because I was serious about being cold and trying to straighten the jacket out. Then I kept wondering why it was still crooked across my back. Well no wonder!

Needless to say, my coworkers and I got a pretty good chuckle about that. And I’ll be sure to check more carefully before I throw the jacket on.
