Insane Random Ramblings

This is becoming like the movie Groundhog Day where I seem to just keep reliving the same moments over and over. My moment seems to be job interviews. I have another one today.

It’s only a 1 job grade move from where I’m at now. Unfortunately I’m pretty high in my current job range so that means that there won’t be any money involved. On the plus side, it is one grade higher which moves me closer to where I want to go. It also gives me interview experience which I really need. And I won’t have to go to our new work location way across town. The downside is that the interview process is taking 2 weeks so they’re going to be looking at a lot of people.

I should have just concentrated more on my blogs and on affiliate marketing earlier in my blogging career. Then I would have had extra money rolling in and I wouldn’t have to worry about making as much from my main job. It’s really not to late for me to learn something new that I could implement on my blogs.

It’s always nice to have a back-up plan.

But now I’m afraid to take them. Partly because I’m just scared of pills in general but also because I don’t know how my body will react to them. I was originally going to start taking them on Saturday but I figured that they wouldn’t really do anything the first day so I would notice any side effect on Sunday. That really wasn’t a good enough data point for me so I decided to wait.

Now I’ve decided to start them this Friday. That way they’ll start working on Saturday and I’ll have 2 days to see how my body reacts. That also gives me a good 2 months to drop a few pounds (actually a lot of pounds). I’ll take them for March and April because my mini vacation is in May and I want to see good results by then.

I am a procrastinator. I don’t know why I can’t get it together but I always mail everything late. I mailed a card to my niece late a few months ago and I mailed a card to my brother late earlier this month. My nephew had a birthday on Saturday and I didn’t mail it until Friday.

I just send a card too. I don’t send really cool gifts through the mail. Now if I had bought him a Fender Bass I would have put that puppy in the back of my car and driven it to New Jersey. Instead I just send a gift card worth $30 or so bucks, they’re small kids so they don’t need a lot.

I really need to start mailing stuff earlier. I don’t like it when I look like a dead-beat Auntie.

I have way too many passwords. I try to use the same password, or one very similar, for everything. Yes I know that that’s a no-no but it generally works for me. Occasionally I’ll find a website with special rules like a capital letter or a special symbol. Those sites drive me nuts because they don’t fit into my normal password routine.

I have one website where I’ve changed the password 3 times in the last month because I can’t remember what it is. I think I’ve finally got one that I can remember now though. At least I hope so because I can’t even remotely think of another password right now.

But I think they are. There was no mail on Monday because of the holiday. I had checked my mail on Saturday and took everything out of my mail box. On Monday, I went downstairs to wash a load of clothes and when I got back in my apartment, I notice that someone had slid mail underneath my door.

It all looked like junk mail so they probably didn’t concern themselves with it. However one of the envelopes that looked like it held a credit card solicitation was actually a $25 gift card. No problem because the mail could have been stuck in the wrong box or just left lying on the table and someone brought it to me. Ok, I’ll go with that.

Until Tuesday when I got home and someone left a package that had been delivered UPS at my door. The box was ripped open. My neighbor told me that he had found the box on the other side of the building (where no one goes), so someone ripped it open to see what was inside. It was something mundane but still it’s the principal.

I almost can’t wait until this year is up to move. I am so uncomfortable in my apartment building right now.

On Saturday or Sunday, I can’t remember which day, anyway either one of those days I tried to do an upgrade to my website. Well not only did it not work, it took this site down. Then I tried to fix it and took my other site down. I’ve been playing with them ever since and they finally came back up last night. Thank goodness. I’ve actually missed blogging.

I’ve been waiting for something in the mail now for almost 2 weeks. I called the company and they told me that if I didn’t get it today to call and they would trace the package. It’s not one of those plastic model kits but a pair of shoes. They’re kinda expensive so I’m not too happy that they’re missing in action. Hopefully they’ll come today.

It’s a 4 day work week and I bet it’s going to drag like crazy. I’m ready for the weekend again.

I remember telling a coworker on Monday that I hoped there wasn’t any overtime this weekend. Sure enough, they’re coming in tomorrow and asked me to come in and help get caught up with the work.

We’ve been behind for a while, then we lost 3 very important members on my team. We have replaced 2 of them but it’s going to take a while before they get up to speed. I don’t think they’re replacing that last person for at least 2 months, which means we’ll be backed up for a while.

It’s really nice to make the extra money. On payday it’s cool to open my paycheck and see a much larger than normal number but it’s very tiring to come in and put in those extra hours. I guess once I get my house savings account together and am able to start saving that money for myself, I won’t be so grumpy.

I was sitting at work listening to music on my phone when a song came on that I really don’t like. I went to skip the song and notice that I had a missed call. My phone never rang and I didn’t get the beep that signals an incoming call. I looked to see who it could have been but the number came up “private”. There was no message and no way to call the person back.

I’ve applied for a few jobs lately and a part of me is hoping it was a recruiting call but since I have no way of getting back to the person, I don’t know what to think. I just hope they call back.

I talked to a hr recruiter last week about my job prospects. I wanted to find out some of the reasons I wasn’t getting called for some of the jobs that I had been applying for. One of the reasons is because they have a ton of candidates for each job. I may be just getting lost in the shuffle. The other reason she touched on was my resume.

She gave me several tips to making my resume look more professional. Those tips virtually entail me doing a complete overhaul of my resume though. She also suggested that I change my resume to 2 pages instead of 1 because of all of the experience that I have. I thought about investing in clear business cards but with the position I currently have, it may not be a good idea. Once I get a better job title, then I can trot out the business cards.

As long as there is a better job at the end of this tunnel, I’m definitely ready to put in the work.

• Katy Perry - thumbs up and down. The hair was weird and the dress was plain but together they seemed to work.
• I feel like I just lost a member of my own family. Today is not a good day even two days later.
