Spring training is finally here!

Yay! I love when spring training starts because that means spring isn’t far behind and summer is just around the corner. I hate winter and snow, of which we have an abundance this year, so the closer it gets to spring the happier I get.

Now I have to watch and see what the upcoming season looks like. I may even shadow my friend’s fantasy baseball game. I’m still not skilled enough to have my own team. I’m just happy it’s almost time for the real thing.

The Steelers didn’t make the playoffs this year

I guess I’m sad about that somewhat. To be honest I really wasn’t into football this year as much as I’ve been in the past few years. I was way more into baseball season than anything else. I’m especially getting antsy right now because we’re in the thick of Winter and I know it’s almost spring training time which means spring.

Oh well I guess I’ll have to pick a team to root for throughout the playoffs. Hopefully this time next year, the Steelers will be back in the playoffs where they belong.

New York Yankees 2009 World Series Champs!

Is tonight the night?

The Yankees can win the whole shebang tonight. I’m really nervous watching this game. One of my coworkers said that if the Phillies win tonight, then they have the advantage for tomorrow’s game 7. Let’s just hope it doesn’t come down to that.

Go Yankees!

Game 6 tomorrow night

Unfortunately the Yankees lost to the Phillies last night so the series heads back to New York for game 6 and a potential game 7. The good news is that the Yankees can clinch the series at home in front of their fans. The bad news is that they still haven’t wrapped up the series and anything can happen.

When you factor in how hot Chase Utley has been, it’s a pretty scary proposition.

The Yankees can wrap up the series tonight

I was on pins and needles last night watching that game. When Joba gave up that home run in the 8th to tie the game I was going crazy. I just wanted the scoring to stop. I can’t be stressed watching a baseball game.

Tonight is game 5 and the Yankees can wrap up the series in Philly. I know a lot of Yankees fans would like for them to win at home but I want them to wrap it up tonight. If they let the Phillies win tonight and go up 3-2, that’s just too much drama to take back to New York. I wish I could just pack up some Eagle Creek luggage and take the trip to Philly and/or NY and watch one of these last few games. Unfortunately I wasn’t lucky enough to win a lottery to be able to go to a game.

Within the next 2 years I plan on making it to a playoff game. Hopefully it will be to watch the Yankees go for #28. But first they need to wrap up this series and get #27.

I can’t wait until tonight

I totally missed yesterday. No seriously - the whole day. I was sick and all I did was sleep. I had a migraine straight from Hell. I got out of bed for about 2 hours then went back to bed for the night. Once I woke up this morning I knew that it was the first day of the World Series.

I’m so excited for the game that I don’t know what to do. My Mom (who hates all sports) is rooting for the Phillies (who she especially hates) just because they’re the “home” team. I’m leaning towards the Yankees although I’m still torn.

Jacoby Ellsbury was on Sports Nation last night and his thinks that the team that wins Game 1 will win the whole shebang. I like that idea, especially if the Yankees win the first game.

Alicia Keys and Jay Z were supposed to perform tonight but due to weather conditions they’ve been pushed back until tomorrow. The official reason is that the stage and equipment can affect the field if there is inclement weather. Oh well, at least they will still get to perform. Alicia is supposed to also sing the National Anthem. At least it won’t be someone screeching.

Go Yanks!

The World Series is set

And it’s my dream/nightmare match-up. The Phillies vs the Yankees starts on Wednesday. I love both teams so I don’t know how I can decide on which team to root for. I’m a homer so I root for the Phils but for the past few years I’ve been rooting for the Yanks. I was so happy last year that the Phillies finally won but I also hated the Rays. Can I root for them again this year?

I don’t know but I can’t wait until Wednesday for the series to start.

Randomosity

I just have a bunch of observations today. So let’s just jump right in:

  1. I wrote a post about not being thrilled with the Monopoly game from McDonald’s. I just kept hearing everyone else rave about it. Well I finally found a article that shares my opinion. It’s not that I needed the validation but it feels good not to be on that island alone.
  2. I’m glad the Phillies beat the Dodgers and are headed to the World Series. However I’m only rooting for them if the Angels beat the Yankees.
  3. Which brings me to my next point. I wanted the Yankees to wrap up their series yesterday but in a weird way I’m glad they lost. They seem to be reading their own press. The media had them in the World Series days ago when they were up 2-1. Maybe now they’ll focus harder and put down the papers. I want them to wrap this series up. I really don’t want them to have to go to a game 7.
  4. I need to go shopping this weekend. My weight loss is going good so I may not look at treadmills but I am going to buy some healthy fruits and vegetables. I did my stock up trip last week so I’m good with personal items for a few months.
  5. I can’t wait for Sunday to see Brett Favre. It’s hard to believe that man is 40 years old the way he plays. One of our local announcers said that the 4th quarter will probably be a shoot-out. I haven’t been this excited to see a game in a while.

Have a great weekend.

I won’t be going to the World Series

At least not this year anyway. I put my name into a random drawing to be able to buy tickets but I wasn’t picked. I even tried to hedge my bets by entering through the Yankees and Phillies sites. I figure I wouldn’t travel to the West Coast if the Dodgers or Angels win but I could drive to New York or Philly. I had even planned on buying new car accessories for the drive. I wanted to buy a GPS and a mp3 docking station for music. There is a long stretch of highway where you get no reception and it’s very boring.

Unfortunately it’s not in the cards for me this year. But you can best believe I’m going to try again next year.
