A lotta posts and a lotta links

I write a lot of posts and most of them have links in them. The only problem is that they’re all outgoing links. Google looks at too many outgoing links as a spam site so I have to do something to correct that. What I’ve decided to do is start deep-linking within my own blog. If I have 5 posts with links, then I’ll have 1 post with a deep link back to my own site.

I may link to a post talking about the Yankees, Phillies, my neighbors or anything else that I can think of. I may even link back to a old post about mailing a bill late since that seems to be the post I get the most hits on. I have no idea why the bots pick that post but they do.

Anything to keep my site in the search engines and stop it from being considered spam.

I’m on a internet ban at work

My boss has put the entire office on a internet ban. They are looking at a few people very closely, especially me. Right now they’re lurking about trying to see what I’m doing. I also think they have a few of my coworkers spying on us. It’s so ridiculous though. If I’m on my lunch or caught up on my work then what’s the problem?

I could see if I wasn’t doing my work or making too many mistakes because I was more concerned with the internet, but that’s not the case. This place is beyond juvenile.

I wonder what spammers actually get

From the spam comments I mean. I thought it was just backlinks to their sites, which can be very important if you’re trying to make money. Those backlinks can increase the visibility of your site and also raise the page rank. The rank of your site determines how much people are willing to pay you for those links. If you need to sell anti wrinkle cream, shoes or furniture, you would pay more for a site that highly ranked and even more for a site that is relevant to yours.

Otherwise I don’t see what they get out of spamming others. Unless they just a kick out of annoying other people.

I can’t let spammers upset me

It’s almost funny because I really almost let one of them get to me. The comment said something like my opinion was wrong and I didn’t know what I was talking about. When I first read the comment I got aggitated. Then I looked to see what post it was on and whether or not the comment was relevant. It wasn’t. They commented on a really old post about me mailing a bill late. Since the comment was geared towards quick trim users, it wasn’t even remotely related to my post. I just deleted it and kept moving.

It’s really funny how some of the spam comments almost get through. I just have to keep watching them and make sure I only approve real comments. No free back links for you Mr. Spammer Guy.

No joke this week either

My computer is totally acting up and I can’t access my emails which is where all of my jokes are. I had some jokes on my flash drive but I’ve already used all of them. Maybe by next week I’ll be able to post the jokes back on schedule.

When I don’t post on my regular schedule, it just messes my whole week up.

I need to stockpile some posts

There are days like today when I really don’t have anything to say. I mean I do but I can’t always put it into words. That’s why I generally stockpile at least 3 or 4 posts for emergencies. That way all I have to do is edit the post to make it current and hit publish. I can write about anything from tv stands to Tiger Woods and his latest drama. But today I’ve hit a wall.

I should be back to normal tomorrow. I guess all of those days off last week knocked me off of my game.

I need to learn how to crop pictures

I wanted to post more pictures in celebration of the Yankees win but the one I did post didn’t come out right. They’re too long and too wide. I’ve never really had any luck with posting pictures to my blog. I’ve tried several times and I almost always mess up. I can find a life insurance lead or any other information that I need online but when I need to post pictures I have trouble.

I need to start networking with more bloggers to find out where I’m going wrong.

The spammers are getting more creative

I’ve been getting some funny spam comments lately. It’s even better than the foreign spam that I was getting but they’re still consistent with it.

Now I’m getting quotes and proverbs as my spam comments. Here are just a few of them:

I have to exercise in the morning before my brain figures out what I’m doing

The only exercise some people get is jumping to conclusions, running down their friends, side-stepping responsibility, and pushing their luck

Give a person a fish and you feed them for a day; teach that person to use the Internet and they won’t bother you for weeks

I used to get comments about diet pill reviews or things like that. Now I’m getting a much larger variety of things. Like I said, more creative but they’re still not getting the backlinks.

My computer is acting up

Last week I didn’t blog a lot because of everything that was going on. This week my computer is acting crazy. For the past 2 days it’s locked up on me. I can get to the internet but then it will take forever to load the next page. Once I get to that page, I can’t get to any other pages because that’s when the computer locks.

I really don’t want to buy a new computer now but I may have to. The timing couldn’t be worse as usual. I guess I’ll figure something out. Maybe I’ll luck up and one of my friends will sell me one of their used computers. I can only hope.

I need help with posting pictures

I can blog all day long. I can figure out how to add a small picture or just a banner link. But if I want a regular-sized picture, I can’t figure out how to get it to look right. I posted 2 pictures the other day that went all the way over into my sidebar and messed up the title for the post under it. I spend all day surfing the net looking for life insurance quotes and playing games, so I guess I should look into how to properly crop and edit photos.

Maybe then I’ll post more pictures with my posts. I have to admit that I like the way the pictures balance out the posts.
