Reading for school

Ξ June 10th, 2008 | → 0 Comments | ∇ books, school |

I catch the bus every day to go to work and twice a week to go to school. Usually I listen to my IPOD to keep me busy. Some mornings I just sit there and “zone out”. I just stare into space trying to get ready for the day. In the afternoons, I’ll read the paper or take a short nap before school.

I thought about it yesterday afternoon and realized that I’m wasting valuable time. I’ve decided that I’m going to start reading my books for school on the ride. This morning I started the book that I have to read for my quiz on Thursday. I got through the entire first chapter, which was pretty long, before I got to work. I could have started the 2nd chapter but I decided to read entire chapters at one time and not stop in the middle.

I might as well be productive with my time. Who am I kidding? I just want to be able to watch more tv and play on the computer when I get home instead of doing school-work every night. Hey whatever works right?

Class starts today

I don’t know if I’m ready or not! I’m kinda nervous because I didn’t take any classes this year so I’ve gotten out of the habit of studying. This is a short summer course. It only lasts 6 weeks. It’s twice a week for 3 hours and 15 minutes. It’s a history class so I know I’ll be tired by the end of the night.

This is one of those classes that makes me glad that I have a good memory. I’ll probably wind up memorizing all of my notes for the quizzes and/or exams. I don’t even have my books yet. I have to stop by the bookstore on my way to class and get them. I know I need 4 books. 3 are really little pamphlets, there’s only 1 real text book.

I just hope these next 6 weeks go by quickly.

30 Secrets of the World’s Healthiest Cuisines

I was listening to the John Tesh radio show (stop laughing I like that show) and he reviewed a book called 30 Secrets of the World’s Healthiest Cuisines. The very first thing he talked about was Scandanavian countries, Sweden in particular. They don’t snack at all. They eat their 3 square meals per day but they don’t eat a lot of junk food like we do in the U.S.

In some Asian cultures, meat is used as a flavor enhancer. They eat a lot of vegetables and rice but hardly any meat at all. And the secrets of Mediterranean foods is using olive oil is better than other oils, but eating olives is even better for you.

It was a lot of information and very interesting. And yes, I will admit that I listen to the John Tesh radio show.

Books I want to read

Ξ November 3rd, 2007 | → 0 Comments | ∇ books |

Once the semester is over there are a couple of books I want to read. I want to read the book by The Bus - Jerome Bettis. It’s his own words and experiences. He talks about some topics that are controversial. I also want to read the book by Karinne Steffans Video Vixen. Actually I want to read her other book too The Vixen Diaries. It’s a train wreck but I can’t help but want to read it for myself.

Of course, this will have to wait until after the semester is over. Maybe I can get somebody to buy me the books for Christmas.
