My poor car

Ugh my car needs so much work right now. One of the known “faults” or defects with my car is squeaky brakes. I try to let my car heat up for at least 3 minutes before I drive anywhere so I don’t have to deal with the sound. Well I haven’t driven anywhere in over 2 weeks so I let the car heat up for almost 7 minutes instead. The poor brakes still sounded horrible.

I’ll have to take my car and let a mechanic check it out because those things sound bad. I’ll probably do some shopping while I’m waiting. I might check out hgh supplements, vitamins and zinc tablets to keep a cold at bay. I’ll probably be in there a while since I expect to need a lot of work.

It’s almost time for my annual inspection so I may as well get that done too. No sense going back more times than necessary. I just hope it doesn’t cost too much.

It’s car maintenance time

I need a oil change and a tire rotation. Every other oil change it’s time to get the tires rotated. Since my tires are brand new, I only have 6,000 miles on them, this is my first rotation. One of my tires blew out on the highway several months ago. When I got to the tire place I found out that all of the tires were pretty bad so I got them all replaced.

It’s too bad my inspection isn’t due until May. I could just get everything done at one time. At least I won’t have to put out too much money right now.

It’s time for a oil change

I never change my oil at the 3 month mark but I always try to change it after 3,000 miles. The reason for that is that I don’t drive that many miles in 3 months. This time it’s taken me almost 6 months to reach that mark. I’ll drop my car off and run across the street and go shopping. I want to price a PS3 and buy some stuff for my house. I need laundry detergent, hangers and some personal items. It seems like I don’t have any clothes but I keep running out of hangers.

There’s really nothing like knocking out multiple chores at one time.

I never did get my car inspected

My inspection was due at the end of October. Here it is the 25th of the next month and I still haven’t gotten my car inspected. I blame it on laziness. I don’t “feel like” taking the car to the shop and I don’t “feel like” sitting there while they work on it. This weekend is a holiday weekend and also the end of the month so this will be a horrible time to take my car in as the shop will be extremely busy.

That means it will be at least another week and a half before I even attempt to take my car in. I probably won’t even drive it during that time. I don’t even want to think about what that ticket might look like.

I’m not the only one with car troubles

One of my new coworkers had someone hit her truck. The guy pulled out of a lot and side-swiped her car. She was in the middle lane so I don’t understand how he went across a lane and into a second lane. She said he was driving a small car so he shouldn’t have hit her.

Nobody was hurt in the accident but she had to retain a truck accident lawyer because the guys insurance doesn’t want to pay. I guess he has a really crappy insurance company that’s notorious for not paying claims. Luckily she wasn’t at fault so she shouldn’t have a problem. She’s not even suing the guy for anything except car repairs. I don’t know why the company is dragging their feet.

Hopefully she gets everything resolved soon.

I have to spend more money on my car

And I’m tired of it. I just had a bunch of work done because the previous owner didn’t take care of the car at all! Everything I had done would have cost way less if they had just done routine maintenance on the car. I had to get upgrades to the sensors and a fluid flush and fill. My transmission fluid was so old it was starting to burn.

I also need to get the car painted because John’s ex scratched my paint. They tried to sell me the paint job, some tail light guards, and some other stuff. I was like “uhh no, I’ll get cosmetic stuff somewhere else”. I’m not going to let the dealer overcharge me for that. They have a heck of a mark-up for accessories. I’ll stick to the dealer for the heavy stuff and go somewhere else if I want my car to be cool looking.

With all the money I just put into the car, I doubt if I worry about making the car look cool for a while. Especially since I need a oil change and new brake pads. I guess spending money on the car never ends.

I hope my car doesn’t conk out

I’m pretty ticked about it too. It is a used car and I realize that they need maintenance but c’mon!!! I just got the car in November. Now the check engine light keeps coming on. Then the next day the light will go off. I need to get it to a mechanic soon to have it checked out. I have a warranty and I thought that meant that I have to take it back to the dealer that I got it from. But I don’t, I can take it wherever I want.

I also need brake pads and have them look at the windshield washer dispenser. It’s not sending fluid out. I do know that this will probably be the last used car that I buy. I don’t like having to pay because someone else was being cheap. The brakes I understand, it’s time for them to wear out. But not the rest of the stuff.

I do know that I’ll never buy from that dealer again either.

Do I even want the parking pass now?

The building I work in is not with out corporate headquarters. We’re a couple of miles away. It actually works to my benefit because I’m closer to home but it’s only a 10-15 minute difference if that.

We have off street parking at our location. Every employee is put on the parking list when they start and you move up as people transfer out. I’m in the top 5 right now so I should have a space within the next month or so. But do I want it? I don’t even know.

I catch the bus free because of school so there’s no transportation costs to me now. The bus stops at my street corner and across the street from my job so it’s not out of my way to catch the bus. Once I get my pass, I may drive sometimes. But it definitely will not be every day.

It’s worse than we thought

I wrote yesterday about how some of the cars in my neighborhood had been vandalized. We thought they broke a couple of windows and egged cars and that was it. It was worse than that. It looked like they took baseball bats to some of the cars. They had smashed in windows, smashed bumpers and put dents all over their cars. Some of those cars will need serious dent repair to get their cars back in shape.

It also looked like some of the cars had been keyed. That’s where you take your keys and just scrape along the side of a car. All of this without provocation or anything. I did see on the local news where it was happening a week or so ago in another neighborhood. But it’s never happened in our area and I’ve lived there for 6 years.

I hate to say I’m glad I don’t have a car right now but I really am.

I missed the perfect car

I want to buy a car. More importantly, I need a car. I’ve been stuck in the house all summer because I can’t get around. I’ve had a car for so long that I’m really lost without one.

I looked into the PennySaver (a local book) and saw a car that seemed perfect. It was a low price, 2 door automatic. There were a lot of other specs that seemed to fit into what I was looking for. Unfortunately I found the car on Saturday and the book came out on Wednesday.

I called the owner who told me he had several interested buyers. He took my number but it wasn’t looking good. He called me today with a courtesy call to let me know he sold the car. I thought that was cool of him especially considering he had no incentive to do so.

I’ll keep looking. Hopefully, something will come through for me.
