My reality show guilty pleasure

Ξ August 27th, 2008 | → 0 Comments | ∇ celebrities, tv |

I usually don’t watch reality shows. I hate them in general because I believe a lot of the stuff is fake and scripted. But my new guilty pleasures are “I Love Money” and “I Wanna Work For Diddy” both on VH1.

This week on ILM they’re having a spitting contest. That’s extra super gross to me so I think I’ll watch the very beginning then skip the next 15 or so minutes and catch the rest of the show. I love watching all of the conniving and back-stabbing that goes on. I have 2 people that I’m especially rooting for to win so that will keep me watching.

As for Diddy, I could never work for him or be on his show. He’s such a perfectionist and a task master. He would drive me crazy. Or at the very least I would cuss him out and get kicked off of the show. I know that working for him could be life changing for the winner but it couldn’t be me. I don’t really have a favorite on this show yet. I do have 2 or 3 people I wish would get kicked off. And Laverne is not one.

I’ve finally come clean. I do watch reality shows. I now hang my head in shame.

Comedian Bernie Mac dead at age 50

Ξ August 9th, 2008 | → 0 Comments | ∇ celebrities |

Wow this is definitely a shocker. I just wrote a post a month ago about Bernie Mac offending people at a fund raising dinner for Barack Obama. His style was kinda in your face humor. Either you loved him or you didn’t get him at all. With Bernie there was really no middle ground.

According to the article on AOL, Bernie died from complications from pneumonia. Also from the article “The comedian suffered from sarcoidosis, an inflammatory lung disease that produces tiny lumps of cells in the body’s organs, but had said the condition went into remission in 2005. He recently was hospitalized and treated for pneumonia, which his publicist said was not related to the disease.”

What a tragic loss. Bernie was at the top of his game and in the prime of his life. My sympathies go out to his friends and family.

RIP Bernie.

Bernie Mac offends - go figure

Ξ July 12th, 2008 | → 0 Comments | ∇ celebrities, jokes |

If you don’t know who Bernie Mac is check out his bio from Wikipedia. He was one of the Original Kings of Comedy (the name of the tour), a raucous tour with 4 comedians known for their crude language and sexual innuendo. He also has his own tv show aptly titled The Bernie Mac Show. He does tone down the language but not the innuendo. He’s very funny if you’re into his type of humor. If not you will definitely be offended.

I was surprised that he was a guest during a Barack Obama fundraiser. That’s not exactly his niche audience so it should have been expected that people would get offended. I mean you don’t invite Eskimos to talk about Winter Park real estate and you don’t invite Bernie Mac to tell jokes in front of a bunch of stiff shirts. It’s a given that they won’t get his humor and be offended.

He wound up getting heckled while on the stage which I’m sure is something he’s not used to. Barack did come out and offer him some advice to “clean up his act”. The joke is actually quite old. It’s something he did in his KOC days. Read the article at ABC to see what the fuss is all about.

I might be able to add to my sports shelf

I think it’s pretty evident that I love sports. I talk about them a lot. Not as much as I used to, but it’s still more than most. Anyway, I have a sports shelf in my living room with a few bobbleheads and a autographed football among other things. I didn’t think I would be able to add any more sports collectibles for a while but now I might be able to.

I found a site called Hyped-Up Sports that sells sports memorabilia which is cool. But even better is their new program called the Send It In Program where you send in stuff to be signed by your favorite athlete. So far they have LeBron James, Kobe Bryant, Michael Jordan, Tiger Woods and Kevin Durant. Each person signs on their own schedule. Actually, I just checked and Michael Jordan was scheduled in February. Bummer! But everyone else is still available. What a great way to add sports collectibles to my growing collection of articles.

When I first went to the site, the first item that caught my eye was a Alex Rodriguez autographed bat. Now I know that I have a “I love Ryan Howard” category, but I really love A-Rod. It’s too bad he’s not in the program. Do you think I could send myself? No. Oh well, I guess I’ll just have to stalk admire him when he comes to Pittsburgh in June. I can not wait!!!!!!!

Now Snoop Dogg has a show

Ξ November 28th, 2007 | → 0 Comments | ∇ celebrities, tv |

These reality shows are getting ridiculous. They’re just giving anybody a reality show. Now it’s Snoop Dogg’s turn. I’m starting to hate some of this stuff as seen on tv. It’s really crazy. I’m a couch potato so I’ll catch bits and pieces of some of the shows when there’s nothing else on. These shows add nothing to the quality of tv. It just reinforces the boob-tube reference. I know for some of these people it’s their one shot at stardom. But I don’t know what the other people are thinking.

Lindsay Lohan

I guess today is celebrity news day on my blog. lolol. She had to serve a jail sentence for her dui. She was in jail for 84 minutes. Yes minutes. That’s ridiculous. That girl is out of control. She needs to look into drug rehabilitation or something.

When you look at how these young people in Hollywood end up, I can’t believe people would let their children become actors at young ages. Once they become adults it’s their own choice but as children? I think not.
