Insane Random Ramblings

I liked most of my uncles family members. Emphasis on most because I did not like all of them. There were 2 or 3 in particular that I didn’t care for at all. One person was walking around with her nose in the air like she was royalty. One of her other cousins quickly knocked her off of her high horse which was pretty funny.

I guess I don’t understand because I’m a very friendly person. I’ll talk to complete strangers so I’m not going to be snotty towards family even if I don’t like you. I can still be civil and cordial. I’m kinda glad I don’t see these people that often because they are definitely mood killers.

Luckily, I do get along with most of the family so it won’t be too hard to ignore a few people out of over 100.

 The reunion was nice for the most part. There were some things that I didn’t like and some that I did. I didn’t get any potato salad and there was no corn on the cob! Can you believe it?!?!? I did have some ribs and hot dogs and there were hamburgers but I didn’t get any. We were able to see what went right and what went wrong so that we know what to correct for next years reunion.

Things like more ice and soda. We also needed more side dishes and less snacks. Can you believe I’m saying less snacks!!!! I also think we should do some fund-raising so that more people pay their fair share.

I hope we have another one next year.

Well I’m flying to NJ and I’ll catch a ride with someone to the spot where the reunion is being held. I know my friend Geneva has a GPS in her car so I hope to get a ride with her. The reunion is in the boonies in a area where no one is familiar with. They chose that spot because it has a lake for the kids to go swimming. I just hope somebody tested out the water to make sure it’s a safe swimming area.

I really wanted to drive so I would have my car but I don’t mind flying either. Now I just need to figure out what I’m taking and I’ll be good to go.

I really have no idea. We’re supposed to bring side dishes as the family will supply the meat (chicken, hot dogs, hamburgers, etc.). My uncle suggested that I bring plates or chips. How many people are really going to want chips at a picnic with all of that other stuff. I think the chips are mainly for the kids.

I don’t know how I’m getting there yet so I haven’t committed. I still have a week before I have to make a definite plans. As long as they don’t ask for anything like garden decor. I mean we’re going to a state park after all. I hope someone remembers to bring extra chairs for the adults and blankets for the kids. We’re going to be there all day so we should at least be comfortable.

I know one thing, I can’t wait to eat those ribs!

Family reunions can be nice when it’s your family. I just got invited to my uncle’s family reunion. He wants some of the people to be there from my aunt’s side of the family (my family) so we can all get to know each other. We don’t know any of his family at all so it will be weird to go be around them for a whole weekend.

They originally looked at las vegas hotels because they wanted a big blowout affair. But here’s the kicker…..they don’t even have a date set! It was supposed to be during the Labor Day weekend, now it may be the weekend before. Ummm, that’s my birthday weekend and I’m not sure I want to spend it around a bunch of family members that I don’t even know.

I guess I’ll wait until the plans are finalized then decide.

I wait until the last minute to do everything. I’m going to NJ tomorrow to visit my mom for Mother’s Day. I just did my hair last night and tonight I have to do laundry. Yes my clothes are still dirty. I don’t want to have to come home and do laundry for next week. I also just asked for Monday as a vacation day. My department is pretty laid back and if it’s open I can have the day. I’ve worked other places where they would not approve vacation if you didn’t request it 2 weeks in advance.

We’ve also put vacation planning on the back burner. I just realized that I have school one of the days that we’re supposed to be in Chicago which is a bummer. Now we’re looking at Hilton Head rentals, condos, and a few hotels but we haven’t decided on any one place yet. I really want to go on a cruise but that would be way too expensive this year. Maybe we’ll do that next year once I’m done with school.

Of course we would probably plan that at the last minute too.

I’m glad the Economic Stimulus is coming. I have to buy my Mom a gift for Mother’s Day. I have several different things in mind. We both play the lottery instant scratch off tickets so I’ll get her some of those. I’ll mix and match them up in $1, $2 and maybe a $5 ticket.

For her gift I don’t want to give her money this year, so I’ll try to get her a real gift. I had thought about cell phone amplifiers but I don’t know if she would like that. I saw a really pretty wind chime type of thing that I think she will like. It’s more of a sun-catcher than a wind-chime. It’s burgundy and gold when light hits it. I told her to put up a hook in her backyard so she can hang it up. When she sits in the yard, it will be there for her to see.

Picking gifts for other people is really hard. I never know if I should get something useful or a knick-knack. I just hope she likes it.

I mean that in more ways than one and it has nothing to do with the weather. Yesterday I talked about my skin and today it’s just as bad. I haven’t had anything to drink except water. I know it will take 2 or 3 days for my skin to clear but yuck! I have all of these marks on my face like I need drug rehab or something. I’ll be glad when my face clears up because this is ridiculous.

It’s also an ugly day because I’m tired and I don’t like my job. One has nothing to do with the other but combined it’s getting to be unbearable. Even when I try to go to bed at a decent hour I don’t fall asleep until close to midnight. I get 6 hours but it still doesn’t seem to be enough. And my job? Whew….that’s a loooooong story. Let’s just say I can see me leaving when my time in service requirement is met.

It’s also an ugly day because I just realized that I forgot my youngest cousin’s birthday. I didn’t forget it per se, but I didn’t call him like I usually do. Sorry Peyt! I hope it was a good day. Geesh, I’ll be glad when this week is over.

That will be me on Friday. I get off of work at 4:45pm but my flight is at 6:15pm. I was going to ask if I could leave early but my coworker is off and I’m his backup. I may be able to leave a half hour early but that’s about it. If not I have an 1 1/2 hours to get to the airport, park, get through security and get to my gate. That is sooo not gonna happen. I’ll be driving like a maniac trying to make it.

I’m not even gonna talk about parking which is gonna set me back about $40 since I have to park at the airport. Even one of the satellite parking places will be expensive because it’s the weekend. Geeze visiting family is very expensive and I haven’t even left home yet.

I’ve decided not to drive to NJ during the Christmas weekend and I’ll fly instead. One reason is because I tend to have anxiety attacks when I’m behind the wheel too long. It usually only happens at night. Since it gets dark early (before 6pm), I would be driving in the dark. I could leave home early in the morning but it’s on Christmas day and I don’t want to leave before noon.

I’ve put off getting my ticket though because I have some money coming in on Friday that I plan on purchasing my ticket with. The other reason is because I was hoping that my neighbor would decide to go visit his family and then he would drive. We could still take my car but he would do all driving and I would pay the gas and tolls. But it looks like he won’t be going so I have to fly. 

I was even gonna let him take my car for the weekend to go visit his family in North Jersey and to go tripping around NYC. But you know men, they just won’t cooperate.
