Most of my posts lately have been a little shorter than usual. And if you notice, I haven’t really talked about John much lately. They’re pretty much tied together if you didn’t guess. We haven’t broken up but we’re not really doing all that great either. We haven’t spoken to each other or seen each other in a couple of weeks. We also haven’t spent any quality time together in almost a month.

I don’t know what’s going on between us but it’s affecting almost everything else I do. I’m trying to sit that to the side and live life as normally as possible though. I can’t be moping around either. School starts next week and my goal, as always, is a grade of no less than a B in my class. That means no distractions.

I don’t know if this will affect my short stories though. I’ll still try to sit aside some time to write. It’s supposed to be cathartic. Whatever. I guess I’ll try it and see.

Saturday shopping

Ξ July 6th, 2008 | → 0 Comments | ∇ John, shopping |

We went to Walmart yesterday because John needed this mouthwash that he uses. It wasn’t on sale this week so we didn’t get it since he does have some at home. That stuff is expensive, it’s $6.75 for mouthwash! Ummm yeah. I just use toothpaste and call it a day.

We also looked at other stuff in the store. We couldn’t find a broom that we liked so he’ll hit a Dollar Tree or something for that. I was looking for a cheap whole room air conditioner but all I saw were Santa Fe dehumidifiers and smaller air conditioners. There were a few box fans but they just blow hot air around so I don’t need any more of those. There was a cheap futon that John was eyeballing. He’s going to read the reviews of it before he buys it. I’m sure it will be fine just to sit on.

We have to go back to Walmart on Tuesday to do our regular food shopping. We’ll probably get the futon then.

It’s been six months

That means it’s time to go shopping. No not for medical jewelry but for dum dum dum…..engagement rings. John thinks he’s getting out of it with a trinket type ring but I got news for him! I don’t want one of those huge honking rings just a nice sized stone. We all know those nice sized stones can set him back a pretty penny though.

I guess I know what I’ll be doing this weekend.

What kind of gamer are you?

Ξ June 12th, 2008 | → 0 Comments | ∇ John, games |

Do you play your games straight through to try and beat it? Or are you the type of person that likes to explore the game and look for all of the little details in the game? I notice that John is the latter. He drives me crazy playing his xbox 360 games. But he wants to see the whole game. He’ll say “I wonder what will happen if….”, then he’ll do something crazy like crash the character into a wall or try to kill someone he shouldn’t be.

I’ve noticed other people playing the same games have already finished the entire game. One person told me it was because he did all of the activities (missions). He didn’t do any extra, what he called, dilly-dallying around. He preferred it that way so he could get on to the next game.

Which type of gamer are you? Do you explore the games slowly or do you beat it and then you’re done?

John and his video games

Ξ June 5th, 2008 | → 0 Comments | ∇ John, games |

They are both driving me crazy. When he first got his XBOX 360, he bought the Saints Row game. He was happy with that until Grand Theft Auto IV came out. He put that game on reserve and played it for weeks. Now he’s hooked on some Ninja game. It’s not the new one either it’s the old Ninja Gaedin game. Part 2 just came out this week but he hasn’t bought it yet.

He’s spent so much money on those video games that it’s not even funny. It’s his money to spend so I don’t say anything. He’s ready to start doing market research surveys to earn extra money to pay for the games. The cheap games start at $10 but they’re either old or used, sometimes both. He plays those games day and night. Most of the time I can’t watch tv because he’s hogging it up with his games. I usually have to go in the bedroom to watch tv.

I’ll have the last laugh though because the bedroom is a lot cooler in the summer. So he can stay in the livingroom and sweat like crazy while I chill in the air.

Chicago here we come!

Ξ May 21st, 2008 | → 0 Comments | ∇ John, travel, vacation |

John and I decided that we are going to Chicago for the holiday weekend. We plan on leaving on Friday after work and coming back Monday afternoon. We wanted to stay until Tuesday but I have a quiz so I have to be back before 6pm. We would have to leave Chicago at 9 or 10am and drive almost straight through. I would be pretty tired from that ride and wouldn’t want to sit through class so we decided to come back a day early.

I went and made sure my car was road worthy. I don’t need anything done to the battery, air conditioning compressor, or the transmission so we’re ready. I have my handy-dandy AAA card ready just in case anything happens. Now we just have to get some money from the bank. We’re getting a 3-day bus pass that’s around $10 and I’m sure we’ll get good use out of that. Our meals will probably be on our debit cards because we don’t want too much cash.

I’ve never been to Chicago so I’m super excited. I can’t wait until Friday!

I don’t like the IHOP in Pittsburgh

Ξ May 18th, 2008 | → 0 Comments | ∇ John, food |

We’re used to going to Ohio to go to IHOP. It’s really not that far, it only takes about 1 hour and 15 minutes if that. The one in Pittsburgh is almost 45 minutes away so it’s just a little bit further to Ohio.

We get spoiled at the other locations. It’s probably because there aren’t as many customers so they can really focus on each table. They bring a carousel with condiments to the table as well as a container of warm melted syrup for the pancakes. What’s funny is yesterday I ate John’s pancakes. He had 3 and I only had 2. I didn’t know how many he was supposed to have so when they accidently switched the plates we didn’t know. I do know that those pancakes were good though.

I do know that I better put my new car insurance card in the car before we go anywhere else. My old car expires on Wednesday and I know I won’t remember. I’ll probably just put the card near my keys so when I grab my keys, I’ll grab the car too. I fully expect that we’ll go somewhere before Wednesday.

We’re not doing much this weekend

Ξ May 17th, 2008 | → 0 Comments | ∇ just chillin', John |

We’re just hanging out in the house, me on the internet and John playing Grand Theft Auto IV. We did go out earlier today and we had some kind of microburst in the area. It was clear then it just started pouring down raining. It rained like that for a while then it drizzled. By the time we got back home, the sun was out and the rain had stopped but it was treacherous for a while.

I need to be studying for my quiz instead of looking up stuff like lipovox on the internet. I just don’t feel like studying though. This is gonna be a long 6 weeks.

John and I don’t agree on our vacation plans

Ξ April 24th, 2008 | → 0 Comments | ∇ John, travel, vacation |

We usually get along so well and agree on almost everything. We usually only disagree on where to eat. And that’s because I always want IHOP and he wants to eat somewhere different each time. But vacation is a thorn in both of our sides.

I want to go to a beach or tropical location. He wants to go on a road trip to see baseball games. Money is tight for me because of school so this one actually works. I want to stay in a nice condo hotel, he wants to stay someplace cheap. I do agree that the hotel is just somewhere to sleep but I don’t want to stay in some el-cheapo fleabag place. I want to go to certain baseball games but he doesn’t want to go to those particular cities. Mostly because he doesn’t like the team that I do.

Our vacation is only a week long but I have a feeling that we’re going to disagree on a lot more issues. I guess it’s good to get it out of the way and see how well we can compromise with each other.

We finally have a IHOP in Pittsburgh

Ξ April 7th, 2008 | → 2 Comments | ∇ John, food |

First let me say that I love IHOP. There are plenty of other places that serve pancakes and/or breakfast food, but none of them compare. I found out that they were here by accident. A coworker was talking about IHOP and mentioned that one had just opened in the Robinson Town Center. I looked online and sure enough it’s here.

I called and they had a 30 minute wait for a table. We decided to go for a drive and visited the one we usually go to in Ohio. After we got home I called to find out why we hadn’t heard about the restaurant. It was just like John thought it was. They had a “soft” opening last week. A soft opening is where they open and serve food but they don’t announce that they’re in the area. It’s mostly to work out the kinks before they do their big splash into the area. They’re going to do the grand opening in another week or so.

Even though we didn’t go there this week, I’m super excited that it’s a option for the future.
