I’m glad I didn’t get my hair done

I was supposed to go to the hair dresser last week to get my hair cut and styled. But I decided to cancel the appointment and save the money instead. Now I’m glad I did. It is so hot and humid again this week. It’s supposed to be hot tomorrow as well but really cool down by Friday. I would have been so mad had I gotten my hair done. It would have totally frizzed out the day after getting it done.

Since everyone will try to get their hair done for the holiday weekend, I may be able to squeeze in next week. But if it’s going to be in the 90 degree range for more than 2 days, I’m gonna hold off. Getting my hair done in the heat and humidity is like throwing money away.

I was totally discombobulated last week

Especially on Wednesday. I mean it was horrible. I was sitting at my desk and all of a sudden I got extremely hot. Then I felt light-headed and dizzy all at the same time. I thought that maybe my blood sugar had gotten low so I ate some candy and drank a bunch of water and tea. I don’t think the tea was good for me but it was better than soda.

Once I got home I drank almost an entire bottle of PowerAde and laid on the couch. I don’t know what was wrong but I felt like crap. Even though yesterday was a blah-type of day too, I hope this week will be better.

TGIF

This has been a long week. I think it’s partly because I know that I’m going on vacation in a few weeks so I’m trying to hurry up and get there. I’ve been working on the same project at work and it’s driving me crazy. I just realized today that I have to order some information that will take almost a week to come in before I can finish the job.

At least I’ll have the next couple of days off and I won’t have to think about work.

It’s too hot to do anything

It is so hot outside that it’s ridiculous. Yesterday was in the mid 80’s and today is going to be in the high 80’s almost 90. I did finally get my air conditioner hooked up so I’m just trying to stay in the house and keep cool. I won’t be outside trying to set up any landscape lighting or mowing the grass like our maintenance man. I know he’s feeling the heat out there. At least they do provide him with a spare work-shop type room that’s totally air conditioned.

I’m not even washing clothes until this weekend when I can get in the laundry room really early in the morning and get it out of the way. I got dehydrated earlier this summer from running around in the heat and I don’t want that to happen again. You don’t realize how hot it really is until you notice that you’re starting to drip sweat. Yuck, no thank you.

I shouldn’t complain too much because this is my favorite time of the year and I’m dreading the fact that winter will be here before we know it.

My Insane Random Ramblings

I have a lot going on so I need a easy post. Here’s the sports edition of my Insane Random Ramblings:

  1. I’m kind of glad that Dez Bryant decided to forgo the usual hazing rituals associated with NFL rookies. I have a feeling he’ll get some backlash from his team-mates but I admire him for sticking to his guns.
  2. Will T.O. ever find a job? It’s like a soap opera with him. He might end up with the Bengals but who knows. Hopefully he’ll change his attitude and humble him, but knowing him…it won’t.
  3. Congrats to Matt Garza of the Rays. He threw the 5th no hitter of the season and the 1st in Rays history. Nice job!
  4. I was happy to read that Maurice Clarett went back to OSU to get his degree. He said he didn’t want to be a distraction to the football team or his follow students. Maybe he’s finally on the right path. I’m really rooting for this guy.
  5. WTH is going on with Sergio Kindle?!?!?! He fell down “multiple” flights of stairs and has a fractured skull. What was he doing and how do you fall down multiple flights!?!!? Something’s rotten in Denmark! I do wish him a speedy and full recovery.

My emails aren’t coming through

I send my jokes from my personal email account to my work account. On more than one ocassion, I noticed that I didn’t have all of the jokes that I had sent. I figured that maybe I was mistaken and just sent them again.

On Sunday I sent 2 emails from my home computer to my work computer. When I got to work on Monday, I noticed that only one had come through. When I got home, I checked my sent box and they were both there. So I looked at the one that didn’t come through just to make sure it wasn’t anything “racy” that would get blocked by our work software. It was just a normal joke that should have come through. I just re-sent it and it came through fine.

I don’t want to lose anything that my be important so I won’t delete it from that computer until I make sure I’ve received it here. I’ll just have to double-check everything I send from my home computer since stuff seems to be getting lost in cyber-space.

This is just not a good summer for me

It’s not a bad or a horrible summer but it’s not great either. For starters, I’ve been looking for a new job for months and it’s starting to get frustrating. Second, I don’t have the money to go on vacation this year so I’ll be sticking close to home. This will make the second straight year without a vacation. I’m so not used to that as I used to go every year without fail and sometimes it would be twice a year.

I just hope my August is better than my June and July have been.

My Insane Random Ramblings

  1. The second half of the baseball season started yesterday and I don’t know whether I’m happy or not. I guess to me it means that “summer” is half over, even though I know that technically it’s not.
  2. I was really shocked to hear about “The Boss” this week. I thought about writing something but I’m not good with that sort of thing.
  3. I hope I get to watch a few games this weekend because it doesn’t look as though I’ll go to any games. Bummer!
  4. I wish people would stop trying to rain on my parade. I’m not going on vacation this year but I’m planning a trip for next year and all everyone wants to do is tell me how bad each place I pick is. If I leave it up to them I’ll make it as far as across the street.
  5. I hope my money comes in tomorrow because I’m super broke right now and I don’t want to wait almost a week to get paid. And I’m not raiding my savings…again.

Have a great weekend!

I have nothing to wear

Literally. I only have about 2 1/2 weeks worth of clothes and guess when the last time I washed clothes was? If you guessed more than 3 weeks ago you would be correct. We had a holiday along with a few other days off so I didn’t need as many work clothes. I have a ton of t-shirts for the weekend so I wasn’t worried about that. It had been so hot that I didn’t want to trudge all the way down to the basement with a full basket of clothes so I’ve been putting it off.

Unfortunately I can’t wait any longer. So I’ll run to the store tonight and get some detergent and dryer sheets. I may look at some eczema relief cream and other health and beauty items. Then I’ll come home and get to work washing clothes.

Doing laundry is my least favorite chore in the house.

I broke my favorite flip-flops

Now I know that might not seem like a big deal to most people but it’s pretty devastating for me. It sounds dramatic but it’s true. I wear my flip-flops year-round and yes that does mean in the dead of winter. I don’t wear them out of the house, but I will wear them to run outside and put out garbage. Pretty much as long as it’s above 60 degrees outside they’re fair game.

I have been looking for a new pair to replace them before they broke but I don’t like anything that I see. Most of the flip-flops that I find are either too flat or way too expensive. I don’t need designer shoes and I really don’t plan on paying over $50 for a pair of flip-flops.

Maybe when I run out this weekend to pick up some vitamins and other stuff from the store I’ll get lucky and find a inexpensive pair. I’m not even that picky, I just want a black pair with a small wedge to it. I will be so bummed if I have to go to the department store to find a good pair. I just do not want to spend a lot of money right now.
