Of course I haven’t read my book yet

Ξ October 5th, 2008 | → 0 Comments | ∇ sports, school, tv |

I still haven’t even started my book yet. I know what the book is about but I need to read it to see exactly what the author is saying. I don’t know how much I’ll actually read though. Baseball comes on at 1pm then there’s a 4pm baseball and football game. Then the Steelers play Sunday night football at 8pm.

I have a feeling I’m going to start reading the book on Monday morning.

I did get my reading done for school

Ξ September 10th, 2008 | → 0 Comments | ∇ school |

I read on my way to work on the bus. Then I read on the bus on the way to school and once I got there. I didn’t really have to read at all. Dr E. assigns two students to break down each chapter. Then as a class we discuss the concepts and principles in each chapter.

This is another one of those classes where I have to participate. Dr E. gives you a check-mark for each time you answer a question. I guess he will use those check-marks to determine how many points to give you. I believe class participation/attendance is 10% of the overall grade. I’ll make it a point to participate at least once every other week. That way I’ll get at least half of the credit. I really hate talking in class.

I do plan on reading the books whether it’s my turn to break down the chapters or not. I like to know what’s going on without the outside influences from my classmates.

Of course I didn’t read my book for school

I had all weekend to do it. I kept putting it off on Saturday instead of just reading it. I was so tired yesterday (Sunday) that I didn’t do anything all day. I didn’t even go to the store and buy food. I was whiny and tired all day. I just laid around watching tv and that seemed to be taxing for some reason.

Now I have to try and cram the rest of my reading in before class starts tonight.

Saturday thoughts

Ξ September 6th, 2008 | → 0 Comments | ∇ random, school, blogging, blog |

I just have a few thoughts today:

  1. I didn’t do my Friday Five yesterday. I was extremely busy at work and then I was so tired when I got home that I didn’t blog at all.
  2. I have some studying to do. I have 5 chapters to read between now and Monday before 5pm. I should have gotten started earlier but of course I’ve procrastinated until the very end.
  3. At least the spammers haven’t been that active this weekend. I haven’t had as many crazy emails to delete.

I hope everyone enjoys the rest of their weekend!

I’m still waiting on my class to open up

Ξ July 30th, 2008 | → 0 Comments | ∇ school |

There is one class that I need for my major. It’s a requirement and I have to take it. It’s offered in the fall but it’s closed right now. I don’t want to wait until the Spring semester because it will be a writing course, ie. much harder, then. I’ve talked to my advisor and they have to leave so many seats open for freshmen.

I don’t know if I should try to get special permission for the class or wait until the Spring when I take my literature class. I’m not gonna stress over it too hard. I’m just glad that there finally seems to be light at the end of the school tunnel.

I am so glad I’m done with school

Ξ June 20th, 2008 | → 0 Comments | ∇ school |

I have been so tired lately. Yesterday was our final and it was very hard. She did the same thing she did on the mid-term, she picked some of the most obscure terms to make our matching/id questions. There were many more topics that were relevant that she could have chosen from. It seems like she took the things we talked about briefly and made those the terms. Things we discussed in-depth were not on there at all.

By the time I got finished taking my exam, I couldn’t even read the 4×6 card that she let us have. We could use one card and write whatever we thought was important on there. Everything was jumbled and hard to read. I had stuff like KVM, SSA and TVA on the card. I had to try and remember what each term meant, how it was significant and how it related to the other term that I picked. The thing I feared happened. I knew all of the terms on the right side and vaguely knew the terms on the left. You had to pick one from each side. No matching terms from the same side.

While I know I did well on the essay, the id terms could pose some problems in relation to my grade. I think I got a B on the final which would give me a low A, high B. If you add in my class participation to the mix, I believe I have a solid B in the class. After last semester I am extremely happy about that grade. I’m even happier that the semester is over.

Tomorrow is the final

Ξ June 18th, 2008 | → 0 Comments | ∇ exams, school |

I’m not looking forward to going home and studying tonight. I know it will be at least 3 hours and that’s the very minimum. I’m sure I’ll spend the better part of 5 hours studying. Then I’ll still study tomorrow just before class. I know she’s going to ask us about some of those hand-outs that we never covered in class. 2 of them are long (at least 9 pages), the other is about 6 pages long.

We have 1 long essay again. We have 5 questions, prepare an answer for 3 and 1 will appear on the final. Her rationale is that you will have 3 of 5 prepared so no matter which questions she picks, you should have at least one answer ready. We also have 4 id-type questions. She will put 8 on each side for a total of 16. Then you pick 1 from each side to compare and contrast. So you will have 4 answers but use 8 id terms.

We have 2 hours and I bet we’ll use most of the time. I have a lot of studying to do tonight.

Reading for school

Ξ June 10th, 2008 | → 0 Comments | ∇ books, school |

I catch the bus every day to go to work and twice a week to go to school. Usually I listen to my IPOD to keep me busy. Some mornings I just sit there and “zone out”. I just stare into space trying to get ready for the day. In the afternoons, I’ll read the paper or take a short nap before school.

I thought about it yesterday afternoon and realized that I’m wasting valuable time. I’ve decided that I’m going to start reading my books for school on the ride. This morning I started the book that I have to read for my quiz on Thursday. I got through the entire first chapter, which was pretty long, before I got to work. I could have started the 2nd chapter but I decided to read entire chapters at one time and not stop in the middle.

I might as well be productive with my time. Who am I kidding? I just want to be able to watch more tv and play on the computer when I get home instead of doing school-work every night. Hey whatever works right?

My class is half over

Ξ June 4th, 2008 | → 0 Comments | ∇ school |

It’s actually more than half over. It’s only a 6 week course so they go really fast. Last Thursday made 3 weeks were over. So after tomorrow nights class, I’ll only have 2 weeks to go. Yesterday was the mid-term exam. I don’t think I did that great on it. I know I passed but I probably got a low B or a high C.

I got an A and an A- on my first two quizzes so I was hoping to get at least a B or B+ on the mid-term. Oh well, I can just wait until next week to see my grade. I know I’ll have to study a lot harder for the final.

I’m back from Chicago

Ξ May 27th, 2008 | → 0 Comments | ∇ travel, school |

I’ll have my thoughts on the city and what we saw later. It was a good time I just wish we had longer to stay in the city. I have a quiz today so we had to come back for that. Nevermind that I’m not even ready for the stupid quiz!
