Where is my free baseball preview?

We usually have the free preview by now. They only give it to us for between 7-10 days and I totally gorge on baseball during that time. I’ll watch the early game, the regular 7pm est game, and then the late game at 10pm. They don’t even have to be teams that I especially like either. Of course I’ll watch my favorite teams but then I’ll also watch those teams that I kinda like but aren’t my favorites or that have players that I really like (Ichiro in Seattle).

Right now all I’m seeing is regular network games. The weekly Sunday game and a random game here or there. I like the free preview because you don’t see a lot of commercials. No people singing about lunchmeat and no crazy bikers riding atvs around. They do innundate you with the commercial to buy the season of baseball on MLB Tv but there aren’t any regular commercials, which is cool in it’s own way.

I’m kinda bummed that the free preview isn’t here yet. I hope we get it soon.

Early baseball season musings

Well the new baseball season has finally started. Yay! I already have a few things to talk about:

  • Why do they have each team play their home opener and then give them a day off before their second game?
  • On a related note, once these road teams go home and play their home opener will the same thing apply?
  • I can’t believe someone already hit a grand slam!
  • I can’t believe someone already had a post-game tirade.
  • Are you kidding me with some is one a 0 for whatever slump 4 games in?!?!?
  • I wish I had a big home theater or at least a big screen tv to watch the games on. My tv is only 32″ and sometimes that’s not big enough.
  • I’m tired of people harassing me about my favorite teams so I’m not rooting for anyone publicly this year.

I’m just glad the season has finally started and I can’t wait to be able to sit back and enjoy some games.

Only 12 more days

Opening day is in 12 more days and I can’t wait. For me, baseball signals the fact that spring is really here and summer is rapidly approaching. Even though it can get cold for some of the earlier games, I still can’t wait until they start.

Now I need to go print out a schedule to so when my favorite teams play and where.

Why aren’t those people at work?

That was the question I kept asking myself yesterday as I watched a spring training baseball game. The game was sold out and it was packed. Then I realized that if not only was I off work yesterday, but if I lived in Florida I would have been at the game too. It’s not often that I get to see certain teams play so I go to their games whenever I have a chance.

I guess since it was a Monday and during work hours you just don’t think of people being at baseball games. However as someone who used to work evenings, I should know better than anyone that not everyone works M-F and 9am-5pm. I used to work 3pm-11pm as my latest shift. You do a lot of work during those hours too. You don’t get to sit around looking for eczema pictures on the internet. You job is to make sure all of that days work is completed before midnight. Some days you are very busy and some days you’re just moderately busy.

But those hours do have their perks. Like going to spring training baseball games at 12 noon on a workday.

When does the baseball season start?

A few days ago I saw a commercial for a Saturday baseball game. They have 3 games that it could possibly be. Depending on where you live there is 1 national game and then there are two local games. I got really excited when I saw one of the games because it was a team that I like. The other two games were pretty decent teams as well.

Then they announced the day of the game. It was something crazy like April 17th. Which is a month from now! They had me all amped up like the games were next week. It’s bad enough that opening day is still almost 2 weeks away, now I gotta look forward to 4 weeks from now to see a good game.

I need to check out a few teams’ schedules around me. A road trip might be in order this summer depending on who’s playing and where.

Spring training is finally here!

Yay! I love when spring training starts because that means spring isn’t far behind and summer is just around the corner. I hate winter and snow, of which we have an abundance this year, so the closer it gets to spring the happier I get.

Now I have to watch and see what the upcoming season looks like. I may even shadow my friend’s fantasy baseball game. I’m still not skilled enough to have my own team. I’m just happy it’s almost time for the real thing.

The Super Bowl wasn’t so super

At least not for me. I really didn’t want the Saints to win. I was cheering as hard as I could for the Colts but it just wasn’t meant to be this year. I didn’t even like the commercials this year. I’m pretty ambivelant on the new E-Trade baby. He’s ok but I was used to the old baby. I couldn’t really get too excited about the commercial.

I did not like the Doritos commercial with the little boy, the mother and her date. I was really beside myself when I saw him slap the guy. I would have been heading for the nearest exit signs and not looking back. There’s something about this commercial that really gets under my skin but I can’t put my finger on it. I did however love the Snickers commercial with Betty White and Abe Vigoda. I know it’s bad to laugh at old people getting jacked up but the commercial was funny.

Here’s hoping that the Steelers are in the Super Bowl next year. Or at least there are better commercials.

Moving the NFL Pro Bowl is a bad idea

The NFL made the decision to move the Pro Bowl to the week before the Super Bowl. It was held in Miami this year and was sold out. I think it’s a bad idea because any member of the two teams that are in the big game can’t play, they just roam the sidelines. If the fans voted these people in, they’re the players that we want to see.

Then you have the venue. It was a treat for these guys to get a all expense trip to Hawaii. Sure most of them could afford to pay for it anyway but that’s not the point. A weekend trip to Miami in January is cool. But what about when the game is held in Detroit, Minnesota or another dome city?

I hope they move the game back to the week after the Super Bowl. That only seems to make sense to me.

The Steelers didn’t make the playoffs this year

I guess I’m sad about that somewhat. To be honest I really wasn’t into football this year as much as I’ve been in the past few years. I was way more into baseball season than anything else. I’m especially getting antsy right now because we’re in the thick of Winter and I know it’s almost spring training time which means spring.

Oh well I guess I’ll have to pick a team to root for throughout the playoffs. Hopefully this time next year, the Steelers will be back in the playoffs where they belong.
