It’s gonna be a sports Sunday

Ξ September 21st, 2008 | → 0 Comments | ∇ sports, Yankees, Steelers, football, baseball |

I got my homework done yesterday so I wouldn’t have to worry about it today. I’ll wait until tomorrow to wash clothes. That way I can watch sports all day long. I probably won’t watch the early football game. But I’ll watch the Steelers vs the Eagles at 4:15. Then I’ll watch the Yankees vs the Orioles at 8pm. I guess you know who I’ll be rooting for right?

The only thing I may do early in the day before the games come on is clean the bathroom. My sink, especially the Kohler faucets are kind of spotty. I’ll also mop the floor and clean the mirror. That shouldn’t take long at all.

Then I’ll od on sports for the rest of the day.

The Pepsi game

Ξ December 9th, 2007 | → 0 Comments | ∇ games, Steelers |

I drank so much Pepsi trying to win prizes in that stupid game. I ended up winning 2 footballs and a Steelers hat. I wasn’t happy with the game however. I entered over 200 caps to win. I would say that half were given to me and the other half I actually drank. I hawked all of my coworkers for their caps.

The main reason I didn’t like the game was because it was one of those instant win type of games. Hypothetically you could enter once and win a great prize. I would prefer the save the caps and/or labels and send in for a prize. I’m sure the people who won were quite happy with the way the game was set up. I know one thing, NFL prizes or not, I’m not gonna play as much the next go round.

Steelers lose to the Jets

Ξ November 18th, 2007 | → 0 Comments | ∇ sports, things that suck, Steelers, football |

I hate overtime games. It’s so arbitrary. First team to score wins. Blah. The Steelers allowed 7 sacks of Ben today. That’s ridiculous. This whole game was ridiculous. The team played sloppy on both sides of the ball. Now we’re tied with the Browns as far as records go but the Steelers hold the tie breaker.

Empty seats at sporting events

Ξ November 11th, 2007 | → 0 Comments | ∇ sports, things that suck, Steelers, football |

Of course I’m watching the Steelers game and I’m amazed and a little ticked off at all of the empty seats that I see. Steelers tickets are so hard to get. This year the team decided to sell all of their excess seats on the internet. I wasn’t happy with that because you know the majority of tickets would be bought by scalpers.

All games are now sold out and you can’t find tickets. Then you watch the game and there are empty seats throughout the stadium. Some of those seats belong to the season ticket holders who didn’t go. But I bet some of those tickets are in the hands of scalpers.

Sports, sports and more sports

Ξ November 6th, 2007 | → 0 Comments | ∇ sports, Steelers, football, baseball |

The Steelers honored their 75th anniversary all Steelers team. It was cool seeing all of the all time greats in one place.

The Pittsburgh Steelers crushed the Baltimore Ravens on MNF 38-7. The game wasn’t even close. The defense sacked the Ravens quarterbacks 11 times.

Speaking of the defense, James Harrison AKA Deebo had one helluva game. He had 3.5 sacks, a interception, 2 forced fumbles, a fumble recovery and 9 tackles. Damn. Go Deebo. He’ll probably be player of the game and Defensive player of the week.

The announcers made fun of referee Ed Hochuli because he had to keep his arms covered. I thought it was funny because I love Ed and he has awesome arms.

The Sox and Curt Schilling are pretty close to completing a one year deal to keep him in Boston.

Both Larry Bowa and Don Mattingly have gone to the Dodgers. Everybody knew Donnie Baseball was going, but nobody really knew about Bowa. The Dodgers are getting a coaching staff second to none.

Andy Pettite opted out of his contract with the Yankees and will test free agency.

Both Tank Johnson (Dallas) and Chris Henry (Bengals) have been activated after serving their 8 game suspensions.

Not a good sports Sunday

Ξ October 22nd, 2007 | → 0 Comments | ∇ sports, Steelers, football, baseball |

The Steelers lost 31-28. It was a tight game in the end. The defense looked horrible the entire first half. It seemed like Ben had a bunch of int’s but one was a deflection. We’re now 4-2 and coming into the heart of our schedule. At Cincy next Sunday and Baltimore at home the following Monday.

The Red Sox pulled it out and came from a 3-1 deficit and won the ALCS. They will now face the Rockies in the World Series. I know the networks are breathing a sigh of relief that it’s the Sox and not the Indians. No disrespect to the Indians but most people didn’t want to see them. Blah. I’m not rooting for anybody. Yes I’m a hater.

Pittsburgh Steelers Randomness

Ξ October 7th, 2007 | → 0 Comments | ∇ sports, Steelers, football |

1. The Steelers are 4-1 heading into the bye week with a 21-0 win over the Seattle Seahawks.

2. The Seahawk players and fans kept calling this a “Super Bowl rematch”. You got your asses kicked today, can you please shut up now?

3. The national media loves Mike Tomlin. They’re complimentary of him and every decision he makes. Of course I love him, he’s hot!

4. Our coach is hotter than your coach.

5. We had no less than 5 players out this week. Hines, Troy, Casey, Brian, and Santonio. Most of them were just getting rest heading into the bye to come back strong.

6. We play the Broncos then 3 divisional games after the bye. We’re leading the divisional standings but we’ve only played 1 divisional game to date. Now it gets hard.

7. Maybe Najeh needs to have baby-momma drama every week if that’s how he’s going to play. Not to make light of the situation, but Najeh was a beast!

Inside the Steelers Huddle

Ξ October 5th, 2007 | → 0 Comments | ∇ Steelers |

This show is so funny. It’s hosted by Hines Ward and Deshea Townsend of the Pittsburgh Steelers. It’s co-hosted by former Steeler Tunch Ilkin. The show is every Tuesday at 7pm during the season. The special guest this week was Allen Rossum.

The top 3 quotes from the show this week:

1. “It’s broke, it’s broke, it’s gotta be broke” - Deshea talking about how he tweaked his arm, it went numb and thought it was behind him when it was at his side.

2. “There’s no I in team, but there’s a I in Hines” - Hines was telling a story and Deshea counted Hines saying I or me 18 times.

3. “My alias is Al Ross” - Allen Rossum explaining why people call him Ross. It’s because they couldn’t pronounce Rossum.

I love this show. If you’re a Steelers fan, you really need to check it out on WDVE.com 102.5 fm.

Today was a good sports day!

Ξ September 9th, 2007 | → 0 Comments | ∇ hotties, I love Ryan Howard, sports, Yankees, football, Steelers, baseball |

First of all the Steelers won! Did you really have any doubt? They beat the Brownies 34-7. Mike Tomlin wins his first NFL game.

Did you know that the last three Steelers coaches Chuck Noll (1969), Bill Cowher (1992) and Mike Tomlin (2007) all won their coaching debuts?

The Phillies and Yankees also won today. The Phillies beat the Marlins 8-5 and the Yankees beat the Royals 6-3. And as if that wasn’t enough, I got to watch the Phillies play the Marlins yesterday. They also won that game. The Phillies need to keep winning, they were dropping back in the wild card race.

All in all it was a good day for sports. I love days like this.

Insane Random Ramblings

Ξ July 22nd, 2007 | → 0 Comments | ∇ sports, I love Ryan Howard, tv, Steelers, football, baseball |

I started to just name this post random ramblings or something like that. Then I decided to put my whole blog name into the post because there are several other blogs with those words in their title.

Anyway, training camp starts tomorrow and I’m not excited. Maybe once we start preseason games I’ll be more into it. I’ve never even been to Latrobe to watch the players train.

I still haven’t made plans to go to a baseball game yet. I’m thinking about going to the Phillies game on 8/19. That’s the day after I get back from my cruise. I can’t go on Saturday the 18th because by the time I get home, the game will have already started. I don’t have anyone to go with yet, but I might go by myself.

I know one thing, if I do go see the Phillies, Ryan Howard better homer or I’ll be mighty pissed. Ok, if Chase Utley homers I’ll be happy too.

I have a lot of stuff to buy before my cruise. I need to make a list so I don’t forget anything. I need batteries for my digital camera and disposable cameras to take along. I want new sneakers too.

I wish I could afford that MLB package. I really enjoyed being able to watch games all day and all night. I don’t go out much. I’m a real homebody. I could watch tv all day and night so the more games I see the better. I wish that special would have lasted a little longer. Like the rest of the season!

I never liked diet soda. I’ve been drinking it because I’m trying to lose weight for my vacation. I have lost about 13 pounds. I wish it was more but I’m beginning to actually enjoy diet soda. Now if I could only lay off of the junk food. Oh well, one thing at a time I guess.
